Phantasio is highly reliant on his Bestial Fury state, which primarily scales off Skill DMG and his Sanity, which gets converted into ATK. For stats, focus on getting Skill DMG, Skill Efficiency, and Max Sanity to maximize his Ultimate skill. Other stats worth getting are ATK and Skill Range when you can.

Wanewraith is highly recommended on Phantasio, as his damage source mainly comes from Skill DMG. That said, you can equip melee weapons that give extra Character ATK, such as Blade Amberglow and Sacred Favour, since they provide huge flat stats that provide decent boosts to his damage.

Blade Artistry is Phantasio's best-in-slot weapon, as it gives him the exact stats he needs for his skills. Furthermore, he gets access to the Umbro-specific skill the weapon gives, allowing him to gain a huge 40% Skill Efficiency that benefits his transformed state's sanity drain.
For other weapon options, you can use the Excresduo or the Rendhusk. Both of these ranged weapons improve on his overall damage and can be great early on.

How to Play Phantasio
Inflict Adagio with Recitativo
Recitativo is an attack that deals Umbro damage and applies five stacks of Adagio on enemies hit. These Adagio stacks can be used to deal more damage when Phantasio is in the Bestial Fury state.
This Skill will receive enhanced Skill Range if Phantasio is in the Bestial Fury state.
Enter the Bestial Fury State
Using Curtain Up will have Phantasio enter the Bestial Fury state. Bestial Fury will continuously drain his Stamina and his Weapon attacks will be replaced.
Enemies with Adagio stacks will receive more damage when Phantasio attacks during the Bestial Fury state. If Phantasio hits an enemy has ten Adagio stacks, his Sanity gets restored.
Immersion Enhances Bestial Fury
Using Phantasio's Skills will build up Immersion. When Phantasio has a maximum amount of Immersion, he will enter an enhnaced Bestial Fury state called Bestial Fury: Devotion.
Bestial Fury: Devotion will increase Phantasio's ATK based on his Max Sanity. While under Bestial Fury: Devotion, staying on this state will drain Immersion instead of Sanity.
Do keep in mind that Phantasio cannot gain Immersion when under Bestial Fury: Devotion.
How to Get Phantasio
Get Through the Secret Letter System
Most of the characters in Duet Night Abyss can be obtained through the Secret Letter system. Using 10 Secret Letter Clues, you can buy the Secret Letter of Phantasio, which can be opened after completing a Covert Commission stage.
After opening a Secret Letter, it has a chance to drop a Thought. You then need 30 pieces of a Thought to unlock Phantasio. Do note that Secret Letters are not guaranteed to drop a Thought!
Use Phoxene Plumule to Buy Thoughts
If you go to the Shop via the pause menu, you can buy a character's Thought for 150 Phoxene Plumule, which is the game's premium currency and can be bought using real money.
