Dedicated Chef SSQ
You can find Marcus standing behind a large rock down Zephyr Path, lakeside of Lamenting Lake. Talk to him. Once he takes notice, he'll ask you to help him find ingredients so he can make a delicious dish.

(The man speaks extremely fast, his bloodshot eyes darting between a notebook and some seafood. He makes hurried notes with a hand covered in scallion bits.)

Find a Fishing Spot

Dedicated Chef Fishing Spot Location

Once you have accepted the commission, he'll give you a Training Rod and 10 pieces of Basic Lure. Follow the quest marker to a nearby fishing spot on a dock with a telephone booth on it.

Start Fishing

Duet Night Abyss Fishing
Move closer to the edge of the dock and start the tutorial on fishing. This will permanently unlock the fishing mini-game.

You only need to successfully catch one fish for this objective.

Give the Fish to Marcus

Duet Night Abyss Dedicated Chef Marcus
Return to the same spot where you met Marcus and give him the fish you caught so that he could make you a dish. You'll both find that it doesn't seem quite right, so he will ask you to catch another fish for him.

(He presents a packet of fish and shrimp marinated in a dark, aromatic sauce. The pungent smell hits you even through the sealed membrane.)

Find Another Fishing Spot

Find a new fishing spot closer to where Marcus first stood. As with the Tagalong, one piece of Basic Lure should be enough for you to obtain the fish Marcus needs.

Give the Phoxenetrout to Marcus

Duet Night Abyss Dedicated Chef Marcus Dock
Go back to the first fishing spot to find Marcus and give him the Phoxenetrout. He will create a dish that tastes much better than the first one. After you compliment Marcus, he will set off to present the dish to his boss.

Find Marcus

Teleport to the city gates, run into the city and head to the right. You'll find Marcus sitting on a bench. He will tell you that his boss didn't like the dish. You can try the dish yourself and choose to truthfully tell him how it tastes or lie to him.

(Beneath the lunchbox, a recipe filled with corrections is neatly placed. Marcus nods his head, indicating it is now yours. He awaits the food critic's review with a smile.)
