| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• His active ability is considered a Plunge Attack, which can further be buffed by his melee weapon Demon Wedges. • Can be a DPS or a Sub-DPS/Support hybrid for an Electro carry. • Strong against bosses. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
| • Only average or decent against mobs due to a lack of AoE abilities, despite having high damage. |
Yuming is an Electro DPS character whose kit revolves around using his active ability to empower his Plunge ATK, allowing him to reach huge amounts of damage with that specific attack.
His ultimate ability summons a dragon, Xuanjiao, to the battlefield, which grants Yuming immunity to hitstun.
More importantly, it inflicts a debuff on surrounding enemies that increases their damage taken from Electro party members. This makes Yuming a great Support for Electro carries.

Yuming's build prioritizes Skill Intensity and Morale over all else, due to these significantly improving Yuming's damage output. ATK is also important, but this is easily built since it comes with plenty of his best Demon Wedges.
Other than these, Skill Range is nice to have, but not totally necessary.

Venial Sinscales

Skill Intensity +40.0%. When an Electro character deals damage using a Plunging Attack with this weapon, grants self and Electro allies +10.0% Skill Intensity for 10.0s (up to 5 stacks). |
| 2 |
Wanewraith
|
Skill Damage +48% |
Yuming's best melee weapon by far is his signature Venial Sinscales, as this increases his Skill Intensity by a solid amount. This stat is further enhanced with every Plunge ATK he performs, which is something Yuming does very often.
His next best weapon is the Wanewraith, due to its flat Skill Intensity buff.
Finally, Zhiliu's Eternal Farewell can also be used for its Morale and Skill Intensity buffs. However, the wielder needs to use their ultimate ability to buff their Skill Intensity, which is something Yuming does not do very often due to the nature of his ability.

Blast Artistry
|
Character ATK +100.0%. Charging fires a special bullet that travels slowly and explodes after a short delay, dealing AOE damage. Tap-firing bullets can trigger its early detonation on contact. When an Umbro character casts their Ultimate, grants +40.0% Skill Efficiency for 15.0s. |

|
Skill Damage +48% |
| 4 |
Soulrend
|
Skill Range +72.0%. |
| 5 |
Destructo
|
Skill Range +72.0% |
Rendhusk and Blast Artistry offer straightforward ATK buffs, which increase the damage of both Yuming’s skills and his regular attacks.
Yuming players who spam their skills more often may find better value out of the Excresduo, as this increases Skill Intensity, which increases the damage Yuming deals with his skills.
Soulrend and Destructo can be used to increase Yuming's Skill Range, allowing for better ability to deal with mobs, but at the cost of less damage.

When using Yuming as a DPS, look to amplify his damage output with two of the best supports in the game: Fushu and Fina. Fina grants Weapon DMG buffs, alongside PEN and straight-up damage buffs. Fushu grants Skill Intensity buffs, on top of granting party-wide heals, Ultra Shields, and Sanity recovery.
| Skill | Priority | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Precipitous Thunderfall | ★★★★★ | Empowers Yuming’s Plunge Attack to be significantly better. This is where most of Yuming’s damage comes from, so it should be at the highest available level. |
| Grimscales | ★★★★★ | An essential ability that essentially unlocks Yuming’s full potential. Significantly enhances his active ability, and debuffs enemies to take more damage from Electro party members. A must-have for both DPS and Support Yuming. |
| Soaring Sky-High | ★★★★★ | Grants a Damage Dealt buff that enhances Electro party members overall damage output. It is very important, even for DPS Yuming. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Precipitous Thunderfall
Yuming leaps into the air, and the next Plunging Attack is replaced with [Starlight Descent]. Using this skill in [Xuanjiao Manifest] state grants Yuming 1 [Reverse Scale]. When the amount of [Reverse Scale] reaches its maxium, [Starlight Descent] is enhanced to [Starstorm Descent]. |
|
Starlight Descent: Plunges at high speed, dealing AoE Electro Damage on impact. This attack is regarded as a melee weapon Plunging Attack. Using this skill in [Xuanjiao Manifest] state triggers [Wyrmcall Clouds]. |
|
Reverse Scale: Reverse Scale persists, with a maximum of 6 scales existing at the same time. The scales are removed when the [Xuanjiao Manifest] state ends. |
|
Wyrmcall Clouds: Spawns [Raging Thunders] at targets struck by [Starlight Descent] or [Starstorm Descent], dealing Electro AOE Damage. A maximum of 5 targets can be selected. |
|
Starstorm Descent: Consumes all [Reverse Scales] to grant a Damage Dealt Increase to self. Then plunges at high speed, dealing Electro AoE Damage on impact. Counts as a Plunging Attack from a melee weapon. While in [Xuanjiao Manifest], also triggers [Wyrmcall Clouds]. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Grimscales
Deals Electro AoE Damage to enemies in front and enters the [Xuanjiao Manifest] state. While active, applies [Thunderous Onslaught] to nearby enemies. |
|
Xuanjiao Manifest: Immune to Hitstun. Xuanjiao hovers around [Yuming]. Xuanjiao absorbs HP damage inflicted on [Yuming]. When the absorbed amount reaches a set percentage of [Yuming]'s Max HP, [Xuanjiao Manifest] ends. |
|
Thunderous Onslaught: Targets with [Thunderous Onslaught] take additional Electro DMG from [Yuming] 1 time when damaged by [Yuming] or Electro allies. Can trigger on the same target once every 2s. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Soaring Sky-High
During [Xuanjiao Manifest], grants DMG Boost to self and Electro allies. |
|
Thunder Roars
Yuming gains 6 [Reverse Scales] when using [Grimscales]. |
|
Gallop Northwestward
[Available only when deployed as a Combat Partner] Increases Morale for self and Electro allies. |
| Why We Recommend It | |
|---|---|
| I1 | ★★★★★ - Amazing! Grants an extra Reverse Scale, allowing for way more frequent activation of Starstorm Descent. Also increases the ATK range and Skill Range of the entire party. |
| I2 | ★★★★☆ - Great Significantly increases the damage Thunderous Onslaught deals to affected enemies. |
| I4 | ★★★★☆ - Great Enhances the damage of Yuming’s Plunge Attack, his primary form of offense, based on his Skill Intensity. |
| I6 | ★★★★★ - Amazing! Grants 25% PEN while his ultimate is active, significantly boosting his offense. Also makes Thunderous Onslaught deal an additional instance of damage to all affected targets after every 6 triggers. |
Intron 3 and 5 are just stat boosts. So, they are not included in the table above!
| Intron Effect | |
|---|---|
| I1 | While in Xuanjiao Manifest, each Precipitous Thunderfall grants 1 extra Reverse Scale. Using Starstorm Descent also increases Weapon Attack Range by 0.6 and Skill Range by 30.0% for self and allies, lasting 8s. |
| I2 | Thunderous Onslaught deals 160.0% of its base damage. |
| I3 | Precipitous Thunderfall Level +2; Soaring Sky- High Level +1. |
| I4 | Plunging Attack deals additional Electro damage equal to 12.0% of Yuming's Skill Intensity, with a maximum of 36.0%. |
| I5 | Grimscales Level +2; Soaring Sky-High Level +1. |
| I6 | During Xuanjiao Manifest, increases PEN stats by 25.0%. After triggering Thunderous Onslaught 6 times, deals an additional instance of Thunderous Onslaught damage at 130.0% of its original multiplier to all targets affected. Can trigger once every 6s. |
Yuming’s ultimate ability allows him to enter a state wherein he damages nearby enemies and inflicts a debuff that forces them to take increased damage from Yuming and Electro party members.
This skill also provides additional effects to his active ability, making it a much better skill overall compared to when it is used at base.
Yuming’s full potential is locked behind this ability, so it should always be active when in combat. Luckily, its duration lasts until Yuming loses a big chunk of his HP. Damage taken to his shields will not affect this ability. As long as you keep Yuming safe from any critical damage, this ability will always be active.
Yuming’s active ability makes him leap into the air and empowers his Plunge Attack to deal more damage.
When Grimscales is activated, this skill deals even more AoE damage, and a stack (or two, once Intron Lv. 2 is unlocked) of Reverse Scale is granted.
Once 6 Reverse Scales are attained, the next cast of Precipitous Thunderfall will grant Yuming a buff that increases his Damage Dealt.

Yuming is great as a companion for Electro party members due to his ultimate ability debuffing enemies to take increased damage, as well as the damage boost he grants Electro allies, and the party-wide Morale buff he provides. Stick him with the Wings • Inspo • Morale Demon Wedge, and he’ll grant Electro allies even more Morale.
His big damage output also makes him a fine DPS to run. He’ll do well in most content, but it’s worth noting that his AoE capabilities are not particularly great, so he may struggle with situations that require him to deal with a large number of enemy units.

Yuming is the latest character to be featured in Immersive Theatre. That means his Secret Letters can only be farmed through the said event mode.
Eventually, these dedicated Secret Letters can be farmed in Nocturnal Echoes, as with previously featured characters.

Most of the characters in Duet Night Abyss can be obtained through the Secret Letter system. Using 10 Secret Letter Clues, you can buy the Secret Letter of Zhiliu, which can be opened after completing a Covert Commission stage.
After opening a Secret Letter, it has a chance to drop a Thought. You then need 30 pieces of a Thought to unlock Zhiliu. Do note that Secret Letters are not guaranteed to drop a Thought!

If you go to the Shop via the pause menu, you can buy a character's Thought for 150 Phoxene Plumule, which is the game's premium currency and can be bought using real money.
