Dead or Alive Story Walkthrough
Defeat the Narwhal Soldiers
After you have successfully met up with Daphne, a large wave of Legion soldiers will ambush you. Defeat the 17 soldiers to make it to the next part of the subquest.
Take Down the Elite Sergeants First
You will encounter an Elite Sergeant, an elite enemy that boosts the movement speed and attack of other soldiers in its vicinity. The buff given by the Elite Sergeant also decreases the damage taken by enemies, so you can focus on defeating the Elite Sergeant first in order to swiftly take out other soldiers once it is down.
Unlock Daphne
During this part, Daphne will join your party as a support unit. Her heals will come in handy for this battle and as you progress through this subquest.
When you're done clearing out the enemies, you and Daphne decide to find the rest of the squad to regroup. You'll be free to move around and officially unlock Daphne as a playable character via the Armoury.

Daphne Best Build and Demon Wedges
Check on Your Squadmates
Follow the quest marker to the area in which you and Avar first broke away from the rest of the squad. You will see 3 of your squadmates lying face down on the floor, dead, which means that you and Daphne will have to escape on your own.
Use the Control Panel to Open the Gate
In the same room, go to the right and towards the control panel. Daphne will use the control panel across from yours. Use the control panel and solve a quick puzzle to open the gate.
Follow the quest marker and proceed through the gate and past the turret toward another control panel. Unfortunately, neither Mors and Daphne have access privileges, so you will have to find a key to access this control panel.
Retrieve the Key
The warning from the system will call in Legion soldiers. This will be your chance to obtain the key.
Large waves of enemies will come in from all directions, so prepare for a hectic battle against normal and elite enemies, including 3 Elite Sergeants.
To make this battle end much quicker, you can use the turret to defeat all enemies.
Find the Key Among the Sergeants With Markers On Their Heads
Focus on defeating the Sergeants. All 3 of the Sergeants will have golden stars floating above their heads. Only one of these 3 elite enemies is the possible holder of the key
Try Again to Unlock the Path to the Sewers
Once you have retrieved the key, run back to the control panel. The closed door to your right will open up a path leading to the sewers. If there are leftover enemies from the battle to retrieve the key, you can ignore them.
Escape the Fortress through the Sewers
Keep running until you fall into the entrance to the sewers. This will trigger a cutscene between Mors and Daphne, where Daphne struggles to process everything that just happened. The two of you will rest briefly and discuss the next plan.

Find a Way Out of the Fortress
Follow the quest marker to the left and enter the Underground Sewers. It will take you into a section a locked gate. Go to the valve next to the gate to unlock it. This will take you to another locked gate. Unlock it the same way and press on until you reach a flooded area.
Drain the Water
This room will be too flooded to safely traverse. You will need to operate the device by the gate ahead to drain the water.
Since there is no way to swim across, jump onto the wooden platform to your right and head to the device indicated by the quest marker. Successfully solving the puzzle will drain the water in the area.
Break through the Wall
When the area is clear of water, go back down and break through the wall.
Filthoids will come in from the opened pipes. Defeat them and keep following the quest marker while avoiding the steam from the pipes.
Protect the Drainage Mechanism and Open the Valves
The quest marker will lead you to the sewer's main drainage mechanism right at the heart of the room. A 30-second countdown will begin as the water level starts to rise. You can Run or Helix Leap to the safety gate. When you try to unlock the gate, alarms will start blaring and the room will begin to flood.
Unlock all 3 valves in the room to drain the water to a safe level. This will open the safety gate.
When you have drained the water, keep fending off the remaining Filthoids and Legion soldiers. When you have defeated enough Filthoids, the battle will fade out into a cutscene where Daphne and Mors run toward the safety gate and decide on their plans following their escape from the Fortress.

How to Open the Drains in Dead or Alive

Turn the First Valve
Run back to the drainage mechanism and operate the valve on the side. This will start a drag puzzle. Filthoids will start pouring in from all sides when you successfully turn the valve.
Turn the Second Valve
While the second valve is unlocking, protect the drainage system from the Filthoids. It will take some time before you can interact with the second valve, so make sure that Filthoids don't swarm the mechanism.
You can monitor the padlock icons at the top of the screen to see the unlock progress.
When the second valve has been unlocked, follow the quest marker to one of the pipes by the water. To get to the pipe, follow the quest marker along the bridge and down a set of stairs.
Interact with the second valve and clear the drag puzzle. This will bring the water level down until the safety threshold reaches 60%. You'll need to turn another valve to lower the water level again.
Turn the Third Valve
More Filthoids and Legion soldiers will arrive while the third valve is being unlocked.
When the last valve is unlocked, follow the quest marker to a pipe under the bridge near the safety gate and solve the last puzzle to drain the water and open the safety gate. As with the valves, it will also take time to unlock the safety gate.
Dead or Alive Bugs
Inactive Sewer Gates
Players have reported that the sewer gate in Dead or Alive during the Find a Way Out of the Fortress quest objective fail to open even after activating the valve. Others who have encountered the bug reported that restarting the game will fix the issue, allowing you to proceed to the next quest objective.
Third Valve Softlock
One of the bug reports also included an instance wherein the water fails to drain after the third valve has been turned. There are currently no known fixes for this bug.
