How to Unlock Side Quests

Complete The Wandering Luno Special Side Quest

Side Quests become available as early as Chapter 1 after unlocking The Wandering Luno Special Side Quest, which will automatically trigger as you reach The Art of Survival portion of Chapter 1: Noctoyager.

Side Quests can be triggered in a variety of ways and aren’t limited to completing certain main story quests or side quests.

How to Find Side Quests

By Quest Markers

Potential Side Quests can be identified by the Side Quest markers above characters' heads. Special Side Quests have blue markers while normal Side Quests have white markers.

Reaching a Certain Point in the Game

It is also possible for optional Side Quests to randomly appear in your list of available Quests when you enter certain areas or when you finish a key part of a Main Quest.

Side Quests are Optional Quests

Side Quests are entirely optional quests, but they also provide you with many valuable rewards that can help you build your team. They also often encourage the player to explore the area around them and interact with the many NPCs of Duet Night Abyss.

Special Side Quests are Prerequisites for Main Quests

Special Side Quests are often prerequisites to progressing in Main Quests, and are key to unlocking permanent features in the game such as forging and capturing Geniemons.

Side Quest Rewards

Obtainable Rewards From Side Quests
Trial EXP and Character EXP Carmine Globules Coins d10 Dice Special Rewards

Trial Rank EXP and Character EXP

Completing Side Quests will grant you Trial EXP, which will contribute to the increase of your Trail Rank. Increasing your Trial Rank grants you permanent buffs called Resonance Buffs, Secret Letters for unlocking certain characters, and even more rewards.

Side Quests will also provide you with Weapon Manuals, which can be used to quickly level up your characters.

Carmine Globules

Side Quests are also great sources of Carmine Globules outside of farming for them in Commission: Escort. Carmine Globules can be used to level up Demon Wedges, which are your greatest source of power.

Coins

It is possible that you will find yourself running short on Coins as you progress through the game and upgrade more characters, weapons, and Demon Wedges. You’ll find that Side Quests are also a viable way of farming Coins.

Free d10 Dice

Impression Checks can be essential to triggering Side Quests and many other character interactions. Completing Side Quests will grant you d10 dice which will allow you to reroll for another chance at passing a failed Impression Check.

Special Rewards

Although rare, it is also possible for you to obtain very special rewards like valuable Weapons through Side Quests.
