Duet Night Abyss The Melancholy of Violetta Fane Client
You can find Fane in front of the Sanctuary. He will inform you that his teacher, Violetta has a commission for you.

Accept the request to begin The Melancholy of Violetta.

Find Fane and Violetta just around the corner of the Sanctuary. They will be found standing at a corner a few paces away from where you talked to Fane.

Talk to Violetta. You may recognize her as an NPC from Noctoyager Act 2. She will give you a letter from an overzealous fan and ask you to track them down and warn them to back off.

Obtain Violetta's Violet Ribbon

Before you leave, Violetta will make you hold onto a violet ribbon, which is her signature accessory. It will come in handy when confronting the overzealous fan.

Violetta's Signature Violet Ribbon will also be filed as a clue for the Set Sail Through a Sleepless Night questline.

Find the Sender of the Letter

Duet Night Abyss The Melancholy of Violetta Soldier
Follow the quest marker to a dumpster by the city gates, near the tunnel leading to Mist Aken. Reaching the area will trigger a cutscene with a Legion Soldier.

The Phoxhunter will approach the guard, who will explain that the old phonograph on the ground seems to be broken. You offer to fix the phonograph.

Fix the Old Phonograph

Solve the puzzle by moving the white bars to the orange outlines to fix the phonograph. When it is fixed, the soldier will gush about being able to listen to Violetta again, prompting the Phoxhunter to ask whether the soldier is a fan of Violetta.

The Phoxhunter will begin asking about the letter. However, when they hand over the letter, the guard will realize that he was the obsessed fan that Violetta sent the Phoxhunter to track. While he tries to defend himself, he will mention possibly being tricked by an unknown Phoxhunter.

Calm the Fanatical Soldier

The soldier will get worked up by his own fanaticism and start attacking you. Quickly defeat the soldier to calm him down.

You will also present Violetta's Violet Ribbon to further calm him down. The soldier will admit defeat and promise to stop stalking Violetta.

Report Back to Violetta

Duet Night Abyss The Melancholy of Violetta Ending
Go back to the Sanctuary and report back to Violetta. Fane will arrive during your discussion with Violetta to deliver a new letter containing a more serious threat to Violetta.

Violetta will decide to report the matter to the Escort and thank you for your help.

Finishing this cutscene will unlock the clue: Violetta's Missing Student.
