Elements Guide

Character damage comes in 6 elements in Duet Night Abyss (DNA), each with its own strength and weakness! See an element chart, a guide on elements, what they are, their weaknesses and strengths, how to use them in battle, as well as each character's element in this guide.

Element Chart

Elemental Advantages
Pyro > Anemo > Electro > Hydro > Pyro
Lumino ⬅︎➡︎ Umbro

Lumino and Umbro are not weak against any type but are strong against each other.

Pyro, Anemo, Electro, and Hydro are advantaged against one another in that order, with Hydro having the final advantage over Pyro. Umbro and Lumino, on the other hand, are unique in that they are not weak against any type but are advantaged against each other.

Elements Have Strengths and Weakness

Elemental Advantages

Most elements are strong and weak against one element each. In Exploration ∞ Commissions, enemies will have an elemental affinity strong against the element you're farming materials for. Characters will deal 400% damage to enemies weak to their element but will only deal 50% damage to those strong against it.

While basic weapon attacks are unaffected by elemental buffs and modifiers, they still count as elemental attacks. This means that during Exploration ∞ Commissions, even basic attack damage can be greatly increased or reduced depending on enemies' elements.

What are Elements?

Determines a Character's Damage Type

Duet Night Abyss Elements
Anemo Icon Anemo Electro Icon Electro Hydro Icon Hydro
Lumino Icon Lumino Pyro Icon Pyro Umbro Icon Umbro

Playable characters in Duet Night Abyss all deal damage in one of six elements: Anemo, Electro, Hydro, Lumino, Pyro, or Umbro. Both their weapon attacks and skills deal damage in their element.

A character's element also dictates the damage type for their Bonus Trigger. Some elements also have additional effects in addition to their Bonus Trigger's damage. Specifically, Lumino refreshes the remaining duration of all status effects, and Umbro reduces their target's Stance recovery speed.

Determines a Character's Ascension Materials

Exploration Commission Elements
Characters of a specific element share the same Ascension materials. When farming Exploration ∞ Commissions, you will need to select which element's Ascension materials you're farming for.

How Use Elements in Battle

Set Up Synergies and Buffs

Geniemon Elemental Buff
Some Geniemons and Demon Wedges only buff specific elements. When a Geniemon with an element-specific passive buff is deployed with a character of a different element, their buff is ignored instead of being added on top of the characters damage.

Equip your deployed character with Geniemons and Demon Wedges of their corresponding element to maximize their damage output! Do note, however, that even though basic weapon attacks count as elemental damage, these are unaffected by elemental ATK buffs provided by Geniemons and Demon Wedges.
