Version 1.1 (The Wind Awakening) Release Date and Characters

Most of the characters in Duet Night Abyss can be obtained through the Secret Letter system. Using 10 Secret Letter Clues, you can buy a character's Secret Letter which can be opened after completing a Covert Commission stage.
After opening a Secret Letter, it has a chance to drop a character's Thought. You then need 30 pieces of a character's Thought to unlock them. Do note that Secret Letters are not guaranteed to drop a Thought!
How to Get and Unlock Characters

If you go to the Shop via the pause menu, you can buy a character's Thought for 150 Phoxene Plumule, which is the game's premium currency and can be bought using real money.

Certain characters are unlocked once a player completes certain Main Story missions. To check which characters are up for grabs and what mission needs to be finished to unlock them, check the Events menu.
In fact, right after clearing the Tutorial, players will get the Pyro character Margie for free, along with a Vernal Jade Halberd melee weapon.

Some events such as Duet Night Abyss' pre-registration event can give players certain characters for free after clearing the event's requirements. For example, Berenica is obtainable from global pre-registration.
