While you can play the protagonist during this quest, it's recommended to play Margie and learn her skills.
Meet Snow at Silverpeace Square
After completing The Wandering Luno, go down to Silverpeace Square to meet Snow. Reaching Silverpeace Square will start a cutscene revealing the treatment of Charons in Icelake.

Head to The Asphodel
Enter the Asphodel, where you will find a young woman named Margie talking to Camilla about a thief.

Hear out Margie’s Situation
You conclude that helping Margie will also allow you to find a means to earn money by taking on Commissions at The Asphodel. Talk to Margie to hear the details about the thief she has been trying to catch.
Leave The Asphodel
Exit The Asphodel and go through the back alleys to start tracking down the thief. There will be a set of stairs to your right leading to your destination.
Track Down the Thief
You will spot an NPC standing in front of a notice board. Margie will identify the man as Mr. Badi.Ask him what he might know about the thief.
Inspect the Area Near Dustbin #3
Go to a dustbin in the corner to look for clues. The search will not yield particularly helpful results, so you and Margie decide to search elsewhere.
Follow the Trail to the Rooftop
Follow the quest marker to a building. You and Margie will spot footprints on the wall indicating that the thief climbed up to the rooftop during his escape.
Talk to the Astonished Woman on the rooftop to help with clues on the escaping thief.
Continue Tracking Down the Thief
Go to the girl standing on the rooftop. You can use Helix Jump to get there quickly. Talk to her and ask about the thief. She will mistake you for a participant of a rooftop race and briefly mention a young man who had been jumping across rooftops earlier.
The quest marker will lead you to the thief's location. Jump across the rooftops to get to him. Once there, a cutscene will start and the thief will escape into the sewers.
Follow the Thief into the Sewer
Jump down from the building and make your way to the sewers. Follow the quest marker to the entrance.
Chase the Thief and Defeat Him
When you enter the sewers, the quest marker will lead you farther in. Keep following it until you and Snow spot the thief facing off against a group of Filthoids. Head to his location and defeat both the thief and the horde of Filthoids in the area.
The Filthoids will keep coming no matter how many you defeat, so make sure to capture the thief once you defeat him, and once you have been prompted to make the capture.
Return to the Asphodel
Teleport back to the Asphodel after the cutscene with the thief, Margie, and Camilla.
Talk to Camilla
Talk to Camilla so that she can pay you for helping Margie. This interaction will also conclude The Art of Survival subquest and unlock the following Commission types: Excavation, Hedge, and Termination.
