Duet Night Abyss lets you connect and play with your friends with online multiplayer and crossplay features.
While players can play co-op multiplayer on the many different game modes in the game, Mystic Maze and Immersive Theatre do not have multiplayer and are only available to be played solo. However, you can summon combat partners in Immersive Theatre, so it'd be good to use them for leverage when playing these modes.

All commissions and Nocturnal Echoes are available for co-op mode, allowing you to farm materials with your friends. Note that playing co-op is optional, and you'll still be able to complete all the commissions by yourselves!

You can add friends in Duet Night Abyss! Friends can chat with each other, form teams together, and show each other their title, frame, and icons in the friend list. Along with other players, you can also show off your cosmetics and postures in co-op areas!

All commissions can be played with up to a team of 4! You can either form a private team or form a temporary one by matching with others playing the same commission. All objectives remain the same, but the difficulty scales with the size of your team.
Though Commissions and Covert Commissions are relatively quick to finish, they can be played with other players to be completed much more efficiently. In addition, Bounty Commissions is highly recommended to be played in online co-op multiplayer to complete it more easily.

Version 1.1 introduced multiplayer support to Noctoyager Manual Commissions, adding both matchmaking and co-op functionality.
Players can invite friends directly to join their session, add new players to their friends list, invite players they recently played with, or connect with other players in their area.

The Version 1.1 update introduced co-op multiplayer to Nocturnal Echoes. Before initiating a boss encounter, players can now match with up to three additional players (4 players total) to defeat bosses more efficiently. Co-op play generally allows for faster clear times, making material farming and weekly grinding faster.
However, single-player and co-op modes share the same weekly attempt limit. Players are limited to 6 total attempts per week, regardless of whether the runs are completed solo or in co-op. Once all attempts are used, no rewards can be claimed until the weekly reset.
Version 1.2 streamlined the entry and preparation process for Nocturnal Echoes in Co-op mode. Pressing the match button now automatically queues you with other waiting players, making it faster and more seamless to jump straight into a session.

Version 1.1 introduced limited-time co-op events that required players to enter designated co-op areas to participate. One example is Luno’s Special Theatre, where players celebrated the Silvecandle Carnival and earned event rewards.
Version 1.2 continues this limited time events with the Starry Sojourn event. During the event period, players can earn rewards simply by staying in co-op areas for a set amount of time and accumulating online time within those zones.

Online multiplayer is automatically unlocked after completing the On a Gentle Breeze main quest.
Immediately after the closing cutscenes, you will be notified of the Friends feature being unlocked. The Friends menu is accessible via the main pause menu.

From the Friends menu, you can invite both Friends and strangers to form a team with you. A team can consist of up to 4 players. Once a team is formed, you can embark on commissions together.
You can also form temporary teams with other players during commissions by choosing to Match in the difficulty selection screen. The game will find other players doing a public run of a commission. You will be automatically added to their team, and other players can also join you in the midst of your run. The team does not stay after the commission is finished.
Co-Op Areas
---
・ Icelake Suburban Square ・ Hidden Loong ・ Starwharf
Players can visit designated co-op areas to hang out with friends or meet new players. Available locations include Icelake Suburban Square, Hidden Loong, and Starwharf.
In these zones, players can add others to their friends list, send game invites, or simply spend time together using emotes and social features.

The developers of Duet Night Abyss have confirmed in their Global Launch Announcement Stream that they will be adding more multiplayer modes post-launch.

You can normally have up to two combat partners at a time when playing solo. When in a two-player commission, each player can only summon one combat partner. No combat partners can be summoned during commissions when a team consists of 3 or more players.
How to Summon and Equip Allies
Commission objectives remain the same regardless of team size, but the difficulty level will be higher. More enemies will spawn, and their levels will be higher depending on the number of players present.

When defeated during a commission, players can be revived by their teammates. Players have 20 seconds to revive downed teammates. Each player can be revived up to 5 times. Once a player exceeds their revive chances or is not revived within the time limit, the commission will fail.
Endless commissions continue with a voting system when played with a team. Players can choose to leave after each wave, but those who vote to remain or fail to vote before the timer expires will continue the commission.
