After the initial cutscene revealing the experiments conducted on Blues, you will begin playing as Subject 47. The researchers will open the cage for you. Follow the quest marker and walk up the ramp and step into the testing grounds.
Multiple waves of Filthoids will be released from containment. You, as Subject 47, must defeat 70 Filthoids to move on to the next objective.

The battle will be long, yet easy as the Filthoids will be low-level enemies, some of which can be defeated in a single strike. The scene will fade out when you have defeated all Fitlhoids.
Before the next battle, you will meet Subject 36 during a cutscene. Like Subject 47, Subject 36 was once a Charon who was taken to the Alchemy Academy to be experiemented on.

The next objective begins with the researchers opening the cage containing Subject 47. Go back up to the testing grounds. This time, you will face off against Elysian Soldiers that were captured by the empire.
Defeat 21 Elysian Soldiers to clear the first wave. After that, another group of 18 Elysian Soldiers will enter the testing grounds. Fight them off to clear the objective and begin a new cutscene with Subject 36.

For the third test, you will have to go back to the testing ground the same way you did for the first two battles.
This time, you will be facing off against The Devourer, a powerful Filthoid that can fire beams and multiple energy orbs as projectiles. Though it can teleport every now and then, it mainly stays in one spot, making it an easy target.
During the cutscene that follows, Subject 36 will vow to find a way to escape the facility.

The third battle will begin the same way: leave the cage and head to the testing ground. It will be revealed that Subject 47's next target is Subject 36.
Subject 36 will attack, and the scene will include 2 quick time events (QTEs) that you will have to clear to proceed.
Instead of continuing the fight, Subject 36 will force the electric cage bars open, creating a path for the two of you to escape and subsequently wounding him.

Follow the quest marker to make your escape out of the Alchemy Academy. Subject 36 will follow you.
There will be Spathatoi Alchemists who will attempt to subdue you. You can attack them and press on.
Anticipate other obstacles such as boxes and lasers. Destroy or dodge them as you try to make your way out of the Alchemy Academy. There will be no map for this area, so keep following the quest marker and push forward.

Eventually, you'll reach an area devoid of alchemists. Jump into the small opening in the floor to reach another room full of green tanks.

Destroy all of the tanks to reveal the path forward.

A group of Filthoids will come rushing in. You can ignore them and focus on breaking the containment gate. The gate will be sturdy enough that you'll need to attack it several times.
After breaking open the gate, you'lll reach a dead end. Follow the quest marker to a small tunnel to your left. It will lead you to a seemingly bottomless pit. Jump down to escape the Alchemy Academy.
The rest of the escape to the sewers will play out through a cutscene, during which the flashback will return to the present time where Blues tells Rhythm about how the alchemists' experiments have eroded their minds. He will reveal that Subject 36 is now dead.
Rhythm Best Build and Demon Wedges

After another flashback in which the Forsakens invited the two escapees to enact their revenge on Solarians, Subject 47 will set off to hunt them down. You will once again play as Subject 47.
Enter Galea Theatre as Subject 47.

Inside the theatre, you will see performers dressed as FIlthoids entertaining guests in the lobby. People will mistake you for a performer in constume, so you can safely move through the crowd.
Follow the quest marker to meet with the Forsakens contact backstage. Subject 47 will break off their alliance, prompting the Forsakens member to attack.

A fight with an elite enemy, Deceiver - Thunderbolt will begin.
Defeat the Forsakens member to incapacitate him, initiating another cutscene. But before Subject 47 can kill the Forsakens contact, Clive and the rest of his squad from the 13th Legion will appear with their guns drawn.

Another battle will begin with Subject 47 facing off against Clive and the 13th Legion. You can focus on defeating the 2 Elite Sergeants first to disable the buff they provide the surrounding soldiers.
However, the battle will end shortly after the Legion soldiers begin to evacuate the civilians.
This will be the last objective in The Scarlet Land before the final cutscene that will reveal the true identity of "Subject 47" and what became of Blues.

The Devourer is a story boss that specializes in ranged attacks. It unleashes energy orbs as projectiles. It is unable to move around the way other bosses do, but it can teleport closer to the player.
