The Health and Shield are the life resources of your characters. Health is indicated by the green bar on top, while the Shield is the white bar under.
The Shield takes the damage first, but once depleted, further attacks reduce the Health bar.
Ultra shields are bonus Shields for Characters. Characters' Ultra Shield will consume damage first before it goes into health and shield.
A character's ultra shield cap increase is dependent on the character level. The higher the level, the more ultra shield!
Healing is achieved through character abilities or teleporting to an Avian Tower to fully heal your characters.
Shields also restore themselves when the character stops taking damage, but health does not.

By pressing the Left Shift key, your character will do a Dash that has an invincibility frame to it, allowing players to dodge attacks if timed properly. You can also do dashes while in Mid-air. Use this to avoid airborne attacks!
You can only do two Dashes before it goes into a 3 second cooldown, though the dash charges can be increased by using the Sidestep Demon Wedge.

Combat Skills are special abilities unique to characters. They require Sanity to be used. Its effects vary, with most of them being offensive attacks, some being buffs, movement, healing and more!
Some skills have different effects depending whether you hold them or just tap them.
Similar to Combat Skills, Ultimate Skills are powerful abilities that are unique to each character. Most of them require more Sanity than Combat Skills. They also tend to have unique effects that are not limited to offensive abilities.
In order to use your skills and ultimates, you must have enough Sanity to utilize them.
Sanity regenerates over time by increments of two sanity every 5 seconds.
Some characters like Fushu can recover Sanity with their skills, and some Demon Wedges can increase max Sanity or even grant the entire team a passive Sanity recovery buff.
| Melee Weapon Types | Ranged Weapon Types |
|---|---|
| Katanas | Shotguns |
| Dual Blades | Pistols |
| Greatswords | Assault Rifles |
| Swords | Dual Pistols |
| Polearms | Grenade Launchers |
| Whipswords | Bows |
Melee weapons generally have more consistent damage, but require you to be up close to your enemies, leaving you susceptible to damage.
Ranged Weapons can do damage from a distance, but have less damage and a risk of damage loss due to the possibility of missing shots.
Use Melee when you need more damage or you need to plow through enemies; Ranged when you need more distance from your opponent while still dealing damage.
Both weapon types are good but they shine best in scenarios that require them. Choose your weapons wisely!
One thing to take note of is that damage from skills are generally much stronger than weapon damage, unless the character in question is a weapon damage-oriented character like Outsider or Kezhou.

When choosing your character's weapons, look to prioritize getting those that have useful weapon effects over matching the character's weapon proficiency, as this generally tends to generate more damage output
For example, Rhythm has a weapon proficiency in Katanas, but her best melee weapon is actually the Wanewraith as this gives her a big Skill Intensity buff, which increases the damage she deals with her ultimate ability, her main damage source.

When dealing damage with a weapon or skill, there's a chance to trigger an elemental or physical bonus effect, and its chance of triggering is reliant on weapon's trigger probability stat.
The Bonus Effect is dependent on the Character's elemental type and the Weapon's physical type.
| Element | Debuff |
|---|---|
| Hydro | Deal periodic Hydro DMG |
| Pyro | Deal periodic Pyro DMG |
| Electro | Deal periodic Electro DMG |
| Anemo | Deal periodic Anemo DMG |
| Lumino | Deals periodic Lumino DMG and refreshes the Remaining Time of all active elemental bonus effects. |
| Umbro | Deals periodic Umbro DMG and slows the target's Stance recovery. |
| Physical Type | Debuff |
|---|---|
| Slash | Deals more damage to the target's Shield. |
| Spike | Deals more damage to the target' HP. |
| Smash | Weakens the target's Stance more effectively. |
Characters each belong to unique elements that their combat skill and ultimate skill are based on. Each element can contribute to the Bonus Effect and yield different effects depending on the character's element.
There are currently 6 Elements: Hydro, Anemo, Electro, Pyro, Lumino, and Umbro.

Combat Stance is a unique enemy mechanic, often seen in Bosses. They are indicated under the Boss' Health bar.
Bosses will lose balance when their Stance has been reduced to a certain extent, and once completely depleted, they will be stunned.
When stunned, you can perform a powerful strike against them that deals very high damage.

Players can summon Combat Partners through Sigils. They can be equipped in your Tactical Backpack.
In solo missions or world explorations, players can summon up to two Combat Partners. However, they are limited during co-op missions:
• In 2-player missions, only 1 Combat Partner each can be summoned.
• In 3-player missions, no combat partners can be summoned.

Most Geniemon can be collected by feeding them Treats and befriending them. These Treats have varying levels of Rarity with higher ones giving you a better chance of befriending a Geniemon.
Some Geniemon can be collected through the Bard's Tome Battle Pass's Level 30 mark rewards.

You can switch characters and Weapons through the Armoury, which allows you access to your available characters and weapons.
In the Armoury, you can also upgrade your weapons and characters, and even see their attributes!

Demon Wedges are character and weapon modifiers that dramatically improve a character or weapon's effectiveness in combat. Other than Ascension and leveling up, Demon Wedges are crucial in making or breaking your team loadout.
These Demon Wedges can be accessed in your armory, and are unlocked by completing commissions in the Noctoyager Manual.

Combos allow you to consistently do damage to enemies. Moreover, repeated attacks can stagger enemies, allowing you to gain a breathing room if you need it.

Sanity is a limited resource that allows you to use your abilities. Use them wisely by looking for opportunities to maximize their usage!

Geniemon are companion pets that can be summoned in the field, similar to Combat Partners. They have active and passive skills that can deal damage, buff allies, restoring sanity and more!

Demon Wedges can also be equipped in your weapons, allowing them to do more damage and abilities in combat!
