To unlock Fishing, players need to complete playing the Special Side Quest called, Dedicated Chef that can be found in Zephyr Path around Icelake.
You can start Dedicated Chef by speaking with Marcus in the Eastern Icelake area. This quest only appears after completing the In the Depths of Winter main story quest.
You’ll be rewarded with a Training Rod, Basic Lure, and the ability to start fishing at Fishing Spots.

| How to Fish |
|---|
| 1. Head to a Fishing Spot
2. Choose Your Rod and Bait 3. Cast the Line and Wait for a Bite 4. Keep the Indicator on the Fish Icon |

To start fishing, you will need to locate a Fishing Spot. These are glowing pools in the water that appear as a fish icon on the map. When you approach, you will be prompted to fish. Press the button that appears to start fishing.

Here, you can choose which Fishing Rod and kind of Bait you will use to fish. High-quality rods and bait will make fishing easier, and make finding rare fish easier respectively. Once you've chosen, press Start Fishing.

Press the indicated button to cast the line into the water. Press it again when you see the indicator flash, accompanied by a sound effect, to start reeling in the fish on the line.

Once you reel the fish in, a minigame will start. Press the button to move the indicator upwards, and release it to let the indicator fall back down. You will need to maneuver the indicator to keep the moving fish icon in its range and fill up the progress bar.
Once the bar on the right of the fishing indicator is full, the fish on the line will be caught. If the bar completely empties, then the fish gets away. Regardless of the outcome, every attempt to reel in a fish will cost 1 Bait.
| How to Sell Fish |
|---|
| 1. Open the Inventory in the Main Menu 2. Go to Fishing Supplies and Press Sell 3. Choose and Confirm Which Fish to Sell |
Fish can be sold in the Inventory section from the Main Menu. From the Main Menu, click on Inventory, and then go to the Fishing Supplies tab to start selling fish.

Start from the Main Menu, then click on the Inventory tab marked with a backpack-looking icon.

Once in the Inventory, navigate to the Fishing Supplies tab. Then on the Fishing Supplies screen, look near the bottom-right part of the screen to find the Sell butoon.
Press the Sell button to start selling fish.

After pressing the Sell button, an interface will appear at the bottom of the screen that lets you choose and confirm the amount and type of fish you'll sell. Once you're done picking, select Sell again to successfully complete the sale.
It's worth noting that higher-level and higher rarity fish yield more Angler's Tokens.
| Bait | Cost | Purchase Limit | Refresh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Lure | 1000 Coins | 10 | Daily |
| Cluckin' Good x10 | 50 Angler's Tokens | 10 | Weekly |
| Like Attracts Like x10 | 20 Angler's Tokens | 20 | Weekly |
| Wiggling Lure x10 | 10 Angler's Tokens | 50 | Weekly |
You can buy Fish Bait from the Fisheries located in Bustling Marketplace in the Shop menu, with Basic Bait costing Coins, and more advanced bait costing Angler's Tokens. These tokens come from selling fish that you have previously caught.
| Fish Bait | Description |
|---|---|
| Basic Lure | A standard lure meant to attract a fish's attention - whether it actually helps you catch anything...is another matter entirely. |
| Wiggling Lure | A special lure that shortens bite time. Maybe it's the way it wriggles - irresistible to most underwater dwellers. |
| Like Attracts Like | A formulated bait that boosts your odds of luring fish variants. To a creature with eccentric tastes, maybe a glinting hunk of scrap can pass for fine cuisine. |
| Cluckin' Good | A deceptively plain-looking lure, crafted from top-grade ingredients. Even the pickiest of fish keep pecking until the very last crumb is gone. |
| Rod | Rarity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Training Rod | Green | Free |
| Beginner Rod | Blue | 500 |
| Training Rod | Purple | 2500 |
| Expert Rod | Gold | 7000 |
| Grandmaster Rod | Gold | 12000 |
To unlock higher-rank fishing rods, you need to increase your Trial Rank, which will make new rods available for purchase. Keep in mind that rods must be bought in order. You’ll need to purchase the previous rod before unlocking the next one.
For example, you can’t buy the Training Rod unless you’ve already purchased the Beginner Rod. Each upgrade made to your fishing rod helps in making the reeling in minigame easier to play.
It's also worth noting that fishing is randomized, and it may take a while to catch specific fish despite having the correct rod and bait.
| Rod | Rarity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Artificer Rod: Violet | Gold | 1200 |
| Artificer Rod: Rust Red | Gold | 1200 |
| Artificer Rod: Mint | Gold | 12000 |
Artificer Rods are special fishing rods you can purchase after unlocking the Huaxu Region. They can be bought at the Haojing Fisheries.
These rods have the same price, rarity, and reeling performance as the Grandmaster Rod. The only real difference between each Artificer Rod is their color, meaning they essentially function as cosmetic skins rather than upgrades with different stats.

Before fishing, make sure to equip characters with the Piscator trait. You can see which characters have this trait by checking their Character Profile under the Armoury section.
Characters that currently have this trait include Rebecca, Outsider, Sibylle, and Tabethe.
The Piscator trait makes fishing easier by reducing fish movement and smoothing the reeling process. This improves efficiency and helps you catch more fish in less time.
| Trait | Blue Effect | Purple Effect | Gold Effect |

At peace
|
- | - | Auto-reel in enabled |
At Peace is a Gold-tier angling geniemon trait that enables auto-reel in during fishing, which skips the reel-in minigame and automatically catches fish successfully. This trait can be inherited by and equipped to Active Geniemons.
Take note that you must first purchase the Expert Rod, Grandmaster Rod, and Artificer Rod for this trait to take effect. Without owning these rods, the Piscator trait will not activate while fishing.
The easiest way to get At Peace trait is by purchasing it in the Haojing Fisheries for 20000 Angler Tokens.
How to Get At Peace and Deft Geniemon

Aside from doing your daily tasks, make sure to purchase Basic Lures every day. You can buy up to 20 lures per day for 2,000 coins if you purchase them from both the Icelake Fisheries and Haojing Fisheries.
Even though Basic Lures aren’t the best bait available, they’re still very important because you can fish every day, while the other lures can usually only be purchased weekly. Because of this, it’s a good idea to stock up on Basic Lures so you can maximize your daily fishing.
Fishing also has a randomized catch system, so even when using a Basic Lure you still have a chance to catch better fish. If you’re using a higher-tier rod, it can also increase your chances of catching higher-quality fish, making daily fishing with Basic Lures still very worthwhile.

Make sure to sell the fish you catch. Currently, fish don’t have many other uses and are mainly valuable for earning Angler Tokens.
Selling them regularly will help you accumulate more tokens, which you can use to purchase useful items.

Fishing daily not only gives you a large number of Angler Tokens, but it also contributes to the Reward Progress system. This system lets you claim rewards after completing certain objectives, such as catching a specific number of certain fish.
There is also a daily cap of around 100 fish per fishing spot, though this can sometimes vary. With multiple spots available, you can potentially reach around 600 catches per day.
Taking advantage of this is important since Fisheries Society items refresh daily, allowing you to purchase useful character upgrade materials like Twilight Treads and Track Shift Modules.
