| Strengths | |||
|---|---|---|---|
|
• Excellent ability to traverse the map quickly. • Boasts strong AoE abilities with high damage numbers. • Intron 2 upgrade independently hits targets with projectiles. |
|||
| Weaknesses | |||
|
• Full potential locked behind Intron levels. • Sword Aflash greatsword swings have sluggish speeds. |
Su Yi is a Lumino character who can fly at high speeds and annihilate groups of enemies with strong AoE attacks.
Her kit's blend of top-notch mobility and potent AoE capabilities makes her a strong pick for most content, especially commissions.
One notable downside is that despite her Sword Aflash skill dealing huge damage numbers, swings with the greatsword tied to that skill are very slow.

Su Yi's best stats include Skill Intensity and Morale, so try to equip weapons and Demon Wedges that provide buffs to these stats. Because Lumino characters do not have stackable buffs that improve these stats, ATK should also be enhanced to improve her overall damage output.
As for her weapons, look to equip Su Yi with her signature weapon, Fledgling's Gleam. Equip Weapon Demon Wedges that increase its Max Ammo to maximize Su Yi's Artificer Powder stacks, and in turn, improve her Sanity restoration and Fengshi Model damage.

| # | Melee Weapon | Skill (Max) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Wanewraith
|
Skill Damage +48% |
| 2 |
Venial Sinscales
|
Skill Intensity +40.0%. When an Electro character deals damage using a Plunging Attack with this weapon, grants self and Electro allies +10.0% Skill Intensity for 10.0s (up to 5 stacks). |
| 3 |
Halcyon Gracefall
|
Skill Damage +40.0%. When a Hydro character deals CRIT Damage with this weapon, increases Skill Intensity for allies by 34.0% for 6.0s. |
| 4 |
Eternal Farewell
|
Morale +30.0%. When an Electro character uses their Ultimate Skill, grants +50.0% Skill Intensity for 12.0s (up to 3.0 stacks). |
Su Yi's best melee weapon is the Wanewraith, as this significantly increases the damage she deals with her skills thanks to its Skill Intensity buff.
If the Wanewraith is unavailable, look for anything else that grants Skill Intensity. These include the Venial Sinscales and the Halcyon Gracefall, but know that these will not work to their full potential due to weapon skill effects that are only active when their wielder is of a certain element.
The Eternal Farewell can also be a viable alternative for its Morale buff, but it will not grant any Skill Intensity buffs due to Su Yi not being an Electro character.
| # | Ranged Weapon | Skill (Max) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Fledgling's Gleam
|
Max Ammo +180.0%. When a Lumino character uses their Combat Skill or Ultimate Skill and consumes Sanity, grants {float4}+0.5% Skill Intensity per Sanity spent for 24.0s, up to 150.0%. |
| 2 |
Embla Inflorescence
|
Skill Range +60.0%. While charging, the weapon gradually locks onto nearby enemies. Upon release, fires tracking arrows at all locked targets. When a Lumino character deals Skill Damage, grants +70.0% Skill Intensity for 6.0s. |
| 3 |
Excresduo
|
Skill Damage +48% |
Su Yi's signature weapon, the Fledgling's Gleam, works well on her due to its massive ammo count and its interaction with Su Yi's ultimate ability. It also grants potentially the most Skill Intensity out of all weapons.
The Embla Inflorescence is also an excellent choice due to it granting Skill DMG, a separate stat from Skill Intensity that can be more impactful due to it being harder to boost.
The Excresduo is the last alternative due to its Skill Intensity buff. Just be sure to increase its Max Ammo stat with Demon Wedges, as Su Yi's kit benefits from a high ranged weapon Max Ammo count.

Look to amplify Su Yi's damage output with two of the best supports in the game: Fushu and Fina. Fina grants Weapon DMG buffs, alongside PEN and straight-up damage buffs. Fushu grants Skill Intensity buffs, on top of granting party-wide heals, Ultra Shields, and Sanity recovery. With these buffs, Su Yi becomes an even deadlier AoE threat.
| Skill | Priority | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Sunward | ★★☆☆☆ | Although it is a great mobility tool, it does not need much upgrading as doing so only increases its damage. |
| Starfall Mode | ★★★★★ | Her bread and butter ability, and the source of most of her damage. This should be upgraded whenever possible. |
| Poised To Strike | ★★★★☆ | Works hand in hand with her ultimate ability to recover her Sanity and increase the damage she deals. Upgrading does not increase the Sanity recovered with Momentum, but it does increase the damage buff's potency. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Sunward
Enters [Sunward], gaining high-speed flight and dealing Lumino DMG to enemies along the path. This state continuously drains [Artificer Energy] and ends when [Artificer Energy] reaches 0 or when the skill is recast. Hold the jump button to enter [Heavenbound], enabling vertical flight. This state continuously drains [Artificer Energy] and ends when [Artificer Energy] reaches 0 or when the jump button is released. [Artificer Energy] regenerates continuously while neither [Sunward] nor [Heavenbound] is active. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Starfall Mode
Activates [Starfall Mode] by consuming all Sanity with Fengshi Type Ill. Gain 1 stack of [Soar] for every 40 Sanity consumed, up to 10 stacks. Gain [Artificer Powder] based on the maximum ammo capacity of the equipped ranged weapon, up to 300 rounds. While in [Starfall Mode], weapons become unavailable, and Su Yi becomes immune to Hitstun. Recasting the skill deactivates [Starfall Mode]. While in this mode, melee attacks are replaced with [Sword Aflash], and ranged attacks are replaced with [Stars Ashower]. |
|
Soar: Gains Morale Boost. |
|
Sword Aflash: Each attack consumes 5 [Artificer Powder] to unleash a massive blade of light, dealing Lumino DMG to enemies in its path. |
|
Stars Ashower: Each attack consumes 1 [Artificer Powder] to fire a projectile that deals AoE Lumino DMG on hit. When equipped with Demon Wedge [Fengshi Type III: Tracking Mode], this attack instead fires homing projectiles that seek out random enemies, dealing AoE Lumino DMG every 0.1s along their path. |
| Skill Effects |
|---|
|
Poised To Strike
Each [Artificer Powder] consumed grants 1 stack of [Momentum], lasting for the rest of the battle, up to 100 stacks. All [Momentum] stacks are removed when [Starfall Mode] ends. If 50 or more stacks are removed, a [Fengshi Model] is launched forward, dealing AOE Lumino DMG on hit. |
|
Momentum: Each stack removed restores Sanity and increases [Fengshi Model]'s DMG Boost. |
|
Guarded Assault
Upon entering [Starfall Mode], gains an Ultra Shield based on the amount of Sanity consumed. |
|
When the Sky Ran Gold
[Available only when deployed as a Combat Partner] Increases ATK for self and Lumino allies. |
| Why We Recommend It | |
|---|---|
| I1 | ★★★★★ - Amazing! Doubles Su Yi's maximum Momentum stacks and stacks gained per Artificer Powder consumed. This significantly increases her damage without lengthening the time it takes to get to full stacks. |
| I2 | ★★★★★ - Amazing! Automatically fires off Stars Ashower when in her ultimate form while also generating Momentum stacks without consuming Artificial Powder. An excellent upgrade overall. |
| I4 | ★★★★☆ - Great Grants her a crowd control tool that pulls together groups of enemies, making it easier to deal with mobs. |
| I6 | ★★★★☆ - Great Increases her PEN stat and launches two more Fengshi Models that each deal 20% of the original model's damage. A great upgrade that increases her overall damage output. |
Intron 3 and 5 are just stat boosts. So, they are not included in the table above!
| Intron Effect | |
|---|---|
| I1 | The maximum number of [Momentum] stacks is increased to 200. Each [Artificer Powder] consumed grants 2 stacks of [Momentum]. |
| I2 | While [Starfall Mode] is active, [Stars Ashower] automatically triggers 4 ranged attacks every 5s and grants 8 stacks of [Momentum]. These attacks do not consume [Artificer Powder]. |
| I3 | [Sunward] Level +2, [Poised to Strike] Level +1. |
| I4 | When dealing Skill DMG, there is a chance to trigger Bonus Effect: Lumino based on the Trigger Probability of the equipped ranged weapon. When triggered, this effect pulls targets within a radius of 10.0m towards the centre of the affected area. This effect can trigger at most once per second. |
| I5 | [Starfall Mode] Level +2, [Poised to Strike] Level +1. |
| I6 | Each stack of [Soar] additionally increases Su Yi's PEN stats by 4.5%. When a [Fengshi Model] is launched, 2 additional [Fengshi Models] are also launched, each dealing 20.0% of the original damage. |
Sunward might just be the best ability for map traversal, given its speed and how it allows for vertical movement as well as horizontal. Use this ability to travel quickly to where you need to be.
This ability is especially useful for commissions that require you to travel long distances, such as Excavation and Mediation.
Su Yi's ultimate ability, Starfall Mode, allows her to transform into her mech form. In this state, Su Yi's weapons are disabled and replaced with a melee attack that allows her to swing a giant robotic greatsword around her and a ranged attack that fires mini rockets that blow up on impact.
Su Yi's combat performance is tied directly to this ability, so try to have it activated whenever you are faced with a battle.
Su Yi's exclusive Fengshi Type III: Tracking Mode Demon Wedge allows her projectiles to lock on and track enemy targets. This makes Su Yi easier to play since, in this way, you do not need to aim precisely at your targets anymore.

When building Su Yi, players should look to increase the ranged weapon's Max Ammo by using Demon Wedges that have the word "Arrow" in them.
Doing so grants Su Yi Artificer Powder stacks on entering Starfall Mode, which in turn, gives her Momentum to improve her Sanity restoration and Fengshi Model damage.

Su Yi is the latest character to be featured in Immersive Theatre. That means her Secret Letters can only be farmed through the said event mode.
Eventually, these dedicated Secret Letters can be farmed in Nocturnal Echoes, as with previously featured characters.

Most of the characters in Duet Night Abyss can be obtained through the Secret Letter system. Using 10 Secret Letter Clues, you can buy the Secret Letter of Su Yi, which can be opened after completing a Covert Commission stage.
After opening a Secret Letter, it has a chance to drop a Thought. You then need 30 pieces of a Thought to unlock Su Yi. Do note that Secret Letters are not guaranteed to drop a Thought!

If you go to the Shop via the pause menu, you can buy a character's Thought for 150 Phoxene Plumule, which is the game's premium currency and can be bought using real money.
