The Marogareh Magatama is the default Magatama you'll have at the start of the game. It can grant you basic physical skills and it increases your strength stat too which allows you to speed through the early stages of the game. It can also grant a permanent str bonus after leveling making it a great Magatama to switch to if you're about to level up for some stat gains.
Once reaching the Fifth Kalpa, talk to Lucifer to upgrade Marogareh and receive the Pierce skill.

As the most basic Magatama, Marogareh is well-balanced for the early game, and the skills you'll learn as you level it up gives a nice boost to your protagonist's Physical abilities and makes you generally tougher.
Though, what makes it worth mastering and maxing out is due to its final learnable skills.
Counter is the last learnable Skill for Marogareh. It's overall a great Skill to have for any opponent that deals Physical damage (which is most Demons in general). Counter gives you a chance to counter attack against opponents who deal Physical damage to you.
And if you're building a lot of STR, Counter will definitely make ending fights much easier without wasting your turns.
Pierce on the other hand, is a learnable skill after reaching the Fifth Kalpa (only available for Maniax and Chronicles DLCs. It's a skill that can be acquired after talking to Lucifer, and is a perfect skill for any Physical build Demi-Fiend.
