Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD) Switch Remake has a lot of new features and changes compared to the original GameCube version of the game. Read on to learn about new content in the remake and what changes were made in the game!
List of Contents
Two new badges were added in the Switch remake of Paper Mario TTYD.
The Nostalgic Tunes Badge is a new sound badge that changes the game's music to the ones from the GameCube version. This can be purchased at the Lovely Howz of Badges in Rogueport.
The other badge is the Gold Medal Badge, which is a new cosmetic badge that makes Mario golden when equipped. To get this badge, you need to get all entries in the Tattle Log, get all badges, and register all recipes from Zess T.'s kitchen. Once you complete all three, you can pick up this badge at the gallows found in the central plaza of Rogueport.

The Art and Sound Galleries are new content that are only available in the TTYD Switch Remake.
You can view the concept art of TTYD in the Art Gallery and listen to the game's music in the Sound Gallery, which also serves as an in-game music player.
Getting Star Pieces will fill out content of both Galleries.
Battle Master Toad is a new NPC that can be found in certain places and will teach you how the battle system works. Battling this Toad will help you practice your moves and Action Commands.
The Pipe Room is a new room that can be found in Rogueport Sewers that can be used to fast travel and help you get around certain areas.
The room has blue pipes that are labeled with a number that corresponds which location it leads to from each chapter of the story.
You can now easily swap partners with the Partner Ring, which is a much more convenient way to switch between your partners you need help from.
Switch to a certain partner's field skill to help you with certain puzzles or to reveal hidden areas.
The hint system has been improved as Goombella will help lead you to what or where you should go during the game's chapters. This guides the players on how to progress and prevents them from getting lost.
Two new secret bosses, Prince Mush and Whacka, have been added and can be unlocked after completing certain requirements. They also give new items as rewards, which are Prince Mush's Belt and Gold Whacka Bump.

Hottest Dog | Prince Mush's Belt | Gold Whacka Bump |
The remake also features three new items that were not in the original version. The Hottest Dog is a brand new recipe that you can make in Zess T.'s kitchen using a Hot Dog and Hot Sauce.
Meanwhile, Prince Mush's Belt and the Gold Whacka Bump are items that serve as trophies that you can get after defeating Prince Mush and Whacka's boss fights.
Defeating a boss in the Switch remake will now reward you with 100 coins. This can be a steady way of getting coins as you progress through the game.
After completing Chapter 4, a Boo will appear in the storage room in Creepy Steeple and will ask you to play a quiz game in exchange for some rewards.
The TTYD remake has new music arrangements and updated the old tracks from the GameCube version.
For example, the battle soundtrack will have themes reflecting on where the battle is held.
The Switch remake of TTYD now runs at 30 FPS, which is far from the GameCube version's 60 FPS.
This may be considered as a downgrade to the original version, but we are speculating that Nintendo may release a patch on the launch version of the game which makes the game run at the standard 60 FPS.
Pianta Parlor slots mini game have been changed to Sliding Tiles Minigame to remove any gambling themes in the game, same way Nintendo did to their previous games. The Sliding Tiles are similar to the ones from Super Mario Bros. 3.
The game's graphics have been changed into a more high definition version, with enhanced lighting and a lot more paper in the visuals and details of the game.
Some characters now have new sound bits that can be heard in their dialogues, like Luigi now has a sound effect that is similar to other games when he is talking. Others like Hooktail and Mayor Kroop have updated sound bits as well.
In the Switch Remake, Partners will now have back sprites which they previously did not have in the original Gamecube version of the game.
In the original version of the game, Mario could only carry 10 items in his inventory. In the Switch Remake, Mario can now carry 15 items in his inventory.
A new Try Again option is now available in the Game Over screen when Mario dies. Choosing this option will send Mario back on the section of the map he was in, not from the last save location.
This option was not available in the original version of the game.
The remake also increased the max coins Mario can hoard. In the Switch version, Mario can now earn up to 9999 coins, going past the thousands.
In the GameCube version, Mario can only collect up to 999 coins.
Kinda messed up to add in hope for a 60 fps patch when there's almost no way thats happening. Nintendo has been releasing a lot of games on switch at 30 fps for the past few years. Just gotta wait for a new console.
