Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD) Switch Remake has a lot of new features and changes compared to the original GameCube version of the game. Read on to learn about new content in the remake and what changes were made in the game!
List of Contents
The Art and Sound Galleries are new content that are only available in the TTYD Switch Remake.
You can view the concept art of TTYD in the Art Gallery and listen to the game's music in the Sound Gallery, which also serves as an in-game music player.
Getting Star Pieces will fill out content of both Galleries.
Battle Master Toad is a new NPC that can be found in certain places and will teach you how the battle system works. Battling this Toad will help you practice your moves and Action Commands.
The Pipe Room is a new room that can be found in Rogueport Sewers that can be used to fast travel and help you get around certain areas.
The room has blue pipes that are labeled with a number that corresponds which location it leads to from each chapter of the story.
You can now easily swap partners with the Partner Ring, which is a much more convenient way to switch between your partners you need help from.
Switch to a certain partner's field skill to help you with certain puzzles or to reveal hidden areas.
The hint system has been improved as Goombella will help lead you to what or where you should go during the game's chapters. This guides the players on how to progress and prevents them from getting lost.
The TTYD remake has new music arrangements and updated the old tracks from the GameCube version.
For example, the battle soundtrack will have themes reflecting on where the battle is held.
According to a gameplay preview from Nintendo Life's YouTube channel, the TTYD remake now runs in 30 FPS, as opposed to the GameCube version running at 60 FPS, even for a retro console.
This may be considered as a downgrade to the original version, but we are speculating that Nintendo may release a patch on the launch version of the game which makes the game run at the standard 60 FPS.
Pianta Parlor Slots Minigame have been changed to Sliding Tiles Minigame to remove any gambling themes in the game, same way Nintendo did to their previous games. The Sliding Tiles are similar to the ones from Super Mario Bros. 3.
The game's graphics have been changed into a more high definition version, with enhanced lighting and a lot more paper in the visuals and details of the game.
Some characters now have new sound bits that can be heard in their dialogues, like Luigi now has a sound effect that is similar to other games when he is talking. Others like Hooktail and Mayor Kroop have updated sound bits as well.
The GameCube Badge is a new badge in the Paper Mario TTYD remake and was not available in the original GameCube version of the game.
In the Switch Remake, Partners will now have back sprites which they previously did not have in the original Gamecube version of the game.
