All Status Effects

List of All Status Effects

All status effects can be applied to Mario, Mario's partners, enemies, and bosses and can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard.

Status Effect
Allergic Removes all the character's status effects. Any status effects applied before Allergic cannot be removed.
Atk-Up Raises the character's attack power.
Burned Deals fire damage and reduces the character's HP by 1 at the end of every turn.
Charged Raises the character's attack power for next attack.
Confused Causes the character's to ignore any action command. This also includes Guard and Superguard.
Def-Up Raises the character's defense.
Dizzy Lowers the character's accuracy when attacking.
Dodgy Enables the character to avoid attacks.
Electrified Inflicts damage to enemies that attack directly.
Fast Enables the character to have two turns per round.
Frozen Disables the character's movement and actions. When the status effect is removed, the character's HP will be reduced by 1 .
Gradual FP Regenerates Flower Points more efficiently.
Gradual HP Regenerates Health Points more efficiently.
Huge Raises the character's attack power and will make the character very big.
Immobilized Disables all character actions.
Invisible Enables the character to avoid all attacks.
Knocked Out Ends character's participation in battle.
Payback Deal damage to attackers.
Poison Deals poison damage and reduces the character's HP by 1 at the end of every turn.
Sleepy Disables all the character's actions. When affected by this status effect, Guard and Superguard can still be used.
Slow Limits the character's turn to every other round.
Soft Lowers the character's defense all the way to 0.
Tiny Lowers the character's attack power all the way to 0 and will make the character very small.

Allergic

Allergic is a very rare status effect that makes the character immune to all further status effects. However, any status effect applied before Allergic cannot be removed.

The only possible causes of Allergic would be eating Space Food and getting hit by Shadow Queen's Dangerous Breath attack and Beldam's No Status attack.

How to Cure Allergic Status Effect

Allergic can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard, but once applied, the only way to cure it is to wait it out every round because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Atk-Up

Atk-Up is a common status effect that increases the character's attack power for a few rounds. Using items, badges, and special moves, like Power Punch, All or Nothing, Power Rush, Power Rush P, and Power Lift, can cause this status effect.

The Charging status effect can also cause this status effect, and note that enemies that are capable of charging can also achieve the Atk-up status effect.

How to Cure Atk-Up Status Effect

The Atk-Up status effect cannot be prevented because it acts as a buff to the character, and the only way to actually cure it is to wait for it to be removed after every round.

Burned

Burned is a status effect that deals fire damage and reduces the character's HP by 1 at the end of every turn. It will also last for a couple of rounds, depending on the digit indicated on the burn icon.

The possible causes of this status effect would be using Vivian's Shade Fist and Fiery Jinx moves, equipping the Fire Drive badge, and getting hit by the attacks of enemies and bosses like Ember, Fire Bro, Lava Bubble, Phantom Ember, Sir Grodus, and X-Naut PhD.

How to Cure Burned Status Effect

Burned can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard, but once applied, it can be cured by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Frozen status effect, such as Ice Storm, Ice Smash, or a spraying stage prop.

Charged

Charged is a status effect that raises the character's attack power for their next attack and can only last for one round. Possible causes of this status effect would be eating Hot Sauce and equipping Charge and Charge P.

Certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like Hyper Goomba, Hyper Paragoomba, Hyper Spiky Goomba, Koopatrol, Dark Koopatrol, Sky-Blue Spinny, Hyper Bald Cleft, Hyper Cleft, Bulky Bob-omb, Bob-ulk, Gloomtail, Macho Grubba, Cortez, Marilyn, and Shadow Queen.

How to Cure Charged Status Effect

The Charged status effect cannot be prevented because it acts as a buff to the character, and the only way to actually cure it is to wait for it to be removed after every round.

Confused

Confused is a status effect that causes the character to ignore any action command, including Guard and Superguard. Main causes of this status effect would be using Vivian's Infatuate attack, Ruin Powder, and Head Rattle.

Other causes also include falling bugs stage effect and getting hit by ceratin attacks of enemies and bosses like Atomic Boo, Wizzerd, Bonetail, and Shadow Queen.

How to Cure Confused Status Effect

Confused can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard, but once applied, the only way to cure it is to wait it out every round because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Def-Up

Def-Up is a status effect that raises the character's defense and can last for a few rounds. Possible causes of this status effect would be using Courage Shell and the Power Lift special move.

Certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like Magikoopa, Red Magikoopa, Bulky Bob-omb, Bob-ulk, Wizzerd, Elite Wizzerd, Macho Grubba, Kammy Koopa, and Shadow Queen.

How to Cure Def-Up Status Effect

The Def-Up status effect cannot be prevented because it acts as a buff to the character, and it can be cured or negated by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Soft status effect, like Mr. Softener and Soft Stomp.

Dizzy

Dizzy is a status effect that lowers the character's accuracy when attacking. Possible causes of this status effect would be Ms. Mowz's Tease move and Dizzy Dial.

Note that no known enemy attacks are capable of applying this status effect to Mario or to hi partners.

How to Cure Dizzy Status Effect

The Dizzy status effect can only be applied to enemies so there is no need to worry about curing this status effect.

Dodgy

Dodgy is a status effect that enables the character to avoid attacks. Main causes of this status effect would be using Repel Cape, Madame Flurrie's Dodgy Fog move and the Mist random stage effect.

Certain enemies and bosses can also apply this status effect, like Magikoopa, Macho Grubba, and Sir Grodus.

How to Cure Dodgy Status Effect

The Dodgy status effect cannot be prevented and the only way to cure it is to wait it out every round because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Electrified

Electrified is a status effect that protects your character with electricity and inflicts damage to enemies that attack directly. Note that using Guard and Superguard will negate this status effect.

The main causes of this status effect would be eating Electro Pop, Love Pudding, and Peach Tart, using Volt Shroom and Mystery, equipping Zap Tap, Lucky Start, Feeling Fine, and Feeling Fine P.

Other causes also include falling stage lights, and certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like Magikoopa, Green Magikoopa, Dark Puff, Ruff Puff, Ice Puff, Elite Wizzerd, and Kammy Koopa.

How to Cure Electrified Status Effect

The Electrified status effect cannot be prevented and there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can cure it.

Fast

Fast is a status effect that enables the character to perform two turns in one round. The only possible cause of this status effect would be using Goombella's Rally Wink move.

Certain bosses like Macho Grubba and Beldam can use certain moves that can apply this status effect to themselves.

How to Cure Fast Status Effect

The Fast status effect cannot be prevented because it acts as a buff to the character, and there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can cure it.

Frozen

Frozen is a status effect that disables the character's movement and actions. When the status effect is removed, the character's HP will be reduced by 1. The main causes of this status effect would be using Ice Storm and Ice Smash.

Other causes also include a spraying stage prop, and getting hit by the attacks of enemies and bosses, like Ice Puff, Frost Piranha, Beldam, Sir Grodus and Bonetail.

Note that by eating certain items like Icicle Pop, Snow Bunny, and Zess Frappe will apply this status effect to the user.

How to Cure Frozen Status Effect

Frozen can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard, but once applied, it can be cured by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Burned status effect, such as Fire Drive or Vivian's Shade Fist and Fiery Jinx moves.

Gradual FP

Gradual FP is a status effect that lets the character regenerate more Flower Points efficiently. The only possible causes of this status effect would be eating Gradual Syrup and equipping Happy Flower and Lucky Start.

How to Cure Gradual FP Status Effect

The Gradual FP status effect can only be cured by unequipping the badges that causes it like Happy Flower and Lucky Start.

Gradual HP

Gradual HP is a status effect that lets the character regenerate more Health Points efficiently. The only possible causes of this status effect would be eating Slow Shroom, Meteor Meal, Couple's Cake, and Shroom Broth and equipping Lucky Start, Happy Heart, and Happy Heart P.

How to Cure Gradual HP Status Effect

The Gradual HP status effect can only be cured by unequipping the badges that causes it like Lucky Start, Happy Heart, and Happy Heart P.

Huge

Huge is a status effect, similar to Atk-Up, that raises the character's attack power and will make the character very big. The only possible cause of this status effect would be using Power Punch.

Certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like X-Naut, Elite X-Naut, Magikoopa, Red Magikoopa, Wizzerd, Elite Wizzerd, Dark Wizzerd, Beldam and Kammy Koopa.

How to Cure Huge Status Effect

Huge status effect can be negated by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Tiny status effect, such as Mini Mr. Mini, Shrink Stomp, and Yoshi's Mini-Egg move.

Immobilized

Immobilized is a status effect that disables all the character's actions. The only possible causes of this status effect would be using Stop Watch and Clock Out special move.

Other causes also include getting hit by the attacks of enemies and bosses like, like X-Yux, Atomic Boo, and Sir Grodus.

How to Cure Immobilized Status Effect

The only way to remove Immobilized status effect is to wait it out every turn because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Inivisible

Inivisible is a status effect that enables the character to avoid all attacks. The possible causes of this status effect would be using Vivian's Veil move, using Boo's Sheet, and eating Love Pudding.

Certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like Magikoopa, Green Magikoopa, Boo, Dark Boo, and Kammy Koopa.

How to Cure Inivisible Status Effect

The only way to remove Inivisible status effect is to wait it out every turn because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Knocked Out

Knocked Out is a status effect that ends the character's participation in battle. The only possible cause of this status effect is when a character's or enemies' HP reaches zero.

How to Cure Knocked Out Status Effect

Knocked Out characters can only be revived by using Life Shroom. Upon reviving the character, they will regain 10 HP. Note that a knocked out character will not be revived after a battle.

Payback

Payback is a status effect that deal damage to attackers. The possible causes of this status effect would be using Admiral Bobbery's Hold Fast move, Spite Pouch, and Return Postage.

Certain enemies and bosses can apply this status effect to themselves, like Poison Puff and Sir Grodus.

How to Cure Payback Status Effect

The Payback status effect cannot be prevented and the only way to cure it is to wait it out every round because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Poison

Poison is a status effect that deals poison damage and reduces the character's HP by 1 at the end of every turn. The main possible cause of this status effect would be getting hit by the attacks of certain enemies and bosses like Putrid Piranha, Poison Pokey, Poison Puff, Cortez, Beldam, Gloomtail, Bowser, and Shadow Queen.

Do note that eating a Poison Shroom will apply this status effect to the user.

How to Cure Poison Status Effect

Poison can be prevented by using Guard and Superguard, but once applied, the only way to cure it is to wait it out every round because there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can remove it.

Sleepy

Sleepy is a status effect that disables all the character's actions. When affected by this status effect, Guard and Superguard can still be used. The main possible causes of this status effect would be using Sleepy Sheep and Sleepy Stomp.

Other causes include getting hit by the attacks of certain enemies and bosses like Crazee Dazee, Amazy Dayzee, and Bonetail.

How to Cure Sleepy Status Effect

Sleepy characters can be woken up when disturbed by using moves to attack them. When Mario or his party members have this status effect, you can wait for it to be removed or wait for your enemy to attack your party.

Slow

Slow is a status effect that limits the character's turn to every other round. The only possible cause of this status effect would be getting hit by the one of the attacks of Beldam.

How to Cure Slow Status Effect

The Slow status effect cannot be prevented and there are no known items, badges, or special moves that can cure it.

Soft

Soft is a status effect that lowers the character's defense all the way to 0. The only possible causes of this status effect would be using Mr. Softener and Soft Stomp.

How to Cure Soft Status Effect

The Soft status effect cannot be prevented because it acts as a buff to the character, and it can be cured or negated by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Def-Up status effect, like Courage Shell and the Power Lift special move.

Tiny

Tiny is a status effect, similar to Soft, that lowers the character's attack power all the way to 0 and will make the character very small. The possible causes of this status effect would be using Yoshi's Mini-Egg move, Mini Mr. Mini, and equipping Shrink Stomp.

Other causes include getting hit by the attacks of certain enemies and bosses like X-Naut PhD, Beldam, and Bonetail.

How to Cure Tiny Status Effect

Tiny status effect can be negated by using a move, item, or badge that can cause a Huge status effect, such as Power Punch.
