Rewards are given in every 10th floor in the Pit of 100 Trials. Every 10th floor also serves as a rest area, so there will be no enemies present.
You will receive a bonus of 5 to 20 coins each time you defeat an enemy. So it's a good strategy to level up and earn more coins by going into the Pit of 100 Trials.
You wil also get 999 coins after defeating Bonetail, the boss of this dungeon.
Combined with the amount of coins you'll get as you descend the Pit, you'll be able to accrue a lot of coins as you do down!
Rceommended Partner | Reason |
---|---|
Madame Flurrie |
・ Can blow away enemies with Gale Force move to instantly kill them. ・ Lip Lock move is very useful in boss battles. |
Vivian |
・ Her fire moves are very powerful and can ignore defense. ・ Can use spread attacks, which can damage multiple enemies at once. ・ Her Veil move can be used to hide in the shadows and avoid powerful enemy attacks. |
Koops |
・ His Shell Slam move can damage multiple enemies and ignore their defense. ・ His Shell Shield move can be used to hide Mario under a big turtle shell. |
Goombella |
・ Her Multibonk move can deal high amounts of damage. ・ Her Rally Wink move can give Mario a second turn. ・ Her Tattle move can be used to get information about your enemies. |
Before attempting to finish the Pit of 100 Trials, you should strengthen your partners as much as possible by upgrading them to higher ranks.
Prioritize upgrading Flurrie, who can defeat enemies very easily with her Gale Force move, Vivian, who can strengthen her fire moves that can damage multiple enemies and ignore their defense, and Koops, who will be used frequently.

There are countless enemies that will appear in the Pit of 100 Trials, so it's good idea to bring badges that can deal with all of them.
It is highly recommended to progress through the story and complete Chapter 7 first before clearing the 100th floor. So Mario can get all the necessary equipment together and gain more special moves to make the process easier.
How to Level Up Fast and Level Cap
The recommended level for clearing the 100th floor is 25 or higher. Your level will increase while you conquer the Pit of 100 trials, so if you have completed the story up to Chapter 7, you don't need to worry about leveling up.
Strange Sack is an item found in the treasure chest at Floor 50. It expands your inventory, so you can go fight your way to Floor 50, get the sack, and exit the dungeon so you can stock up on more items.
Strange Sack Effect and How to Get
Charlieton is an NPC and a merchant that you may encounter in between floors. His items get more expensive as you go deeper, so only buy things when you need to.

Move down five floors | 10 Coins |
Movers are Puni NPCs in between the floors of the Pit of 100 Trials that can help you skip two or five levels or they can also help you return to the entrance of the dungeon. These NPCs can spawn at any floor at random.
Always be cautious when using a Mover to skip some floors because you can also skip rest floors, where you can buy from Charlieton and with treasure on them, such as 10F, 20F ,30F, and so on.
You must land Stylish Moves to replenish your Star Power, which are used when using special moves. Stylish Moves are done to hype up the crowd, when fighting, even more to gain additional Star Power.
Stylish Moves can be done by Mario or his party members. Mario and his party members have different stylish moves as well.
Madame Flurrie's Gale Force move can instantly kill the enemies in the dungeon. It is also highly recommended using the move against flying enemies that appear on 91F onwards.
Madame Flurrie Partner Overview
Inside the Pit of 100 Trials, your special moves are your lifeline, so a good strategy is to leave the enemies behind and use appeals to recover star power. Equip the Super Appeal badge to help you recover star power more efficiently.
When recovering star power, it is recommended to use Sleepy Stomp on the enemies so they cannot disturb you.
Sleepy Stomp Timing and Effects
Bonetail is very strong, so make sure to replenish your HP, FP, and Star Power gauge before beating the dragon. Note that the boss battle will immediately start after you go down the warp pipe on 99F.
The Danger Mario build, activated the effects of the Mega Rush which increases attack power by 2 when his HP is below 5, is the last resort in beating the Pit of 100 Trials. Danger Mario build upsets the game balance, so please be careful when using.
Once you complete the game, you will be able to fight Whacka, the mole you can encounter in Keelhaul Key, in the 100th floor of the Pit after clearing it once.
Whacka will appear at the end of the dungeon after hitting it with a hammer repeatedly in Keelhaul Key. You also need to beat Bonetail first before you can fight the blue mole.
There are two entrances to the Pit of 100 Trials. Each of them are accessible if you go down to Rogueport Sewers either at the eastern or western side of Rogueport.
How to Get to the Pit of 100 Trials from East Rogueport | |
---|---|
1 | Start from the Professor Frankly's house on the east side of Rogueport. |
2 | Go down the warp pipe in front of the house which leads to Rogueport Sewers. |
3 | After coming down, head to the pipe on your right with a steel fence. Use paper mode to slip past the fence. |
4 | Upon arriving further down, head towards the steel fences then go down until you see another warp pipe on the lower left side of the room. |
5 | On this floor, head to the stairs on the right side of the room. If you have an upgraded hammer, you can destroy the big block, jump on the spring, and head inside the room. |
6 | At the top of it, turn into plane mode to fly across the room to get on the platform on the left side. Then go to the room on the left. |
7 | In this room, go through the steel fence and use the spring to access the platform above. |
8 | Once on the platform, turn into plane mode and fly across to the other platform on the left side where another jump pad is located. |
9 | Then, use paper mode again to slip through the fence and head into the room on the left. |
10 | The next room would be the entrance to the Pit of 100 Trials. |
How to Get to the Pit of 100 Trials from West Rogueport | |
---|---|
1 | From the Pianta Parlor at the west side of Rogueport, head to the drainage on the right and use paper mode to slide down to Rogueport Sewers. |
2 | Once down, jump on the moving platforms on the right then stop on 2nd platform. Then, drop onto the pipe beneath the 2nd platform. |
3 | In this room, you have to go through the steel fence and come down to the lower area of the room. |
4 | On the lower area, you will need to find a piece of paper and have Flurrie blow it off for you. Then go down the hidden warp pipe behind it. |
5 | Upon going down the pipe, you will arrive at the entrance of the Pit of 100 Trials. |
To proceed to the next floor in the dungeon, you must first defeat all the enemies on that floor. You can get rewards by opening the chests on every 10th floor.
Inside the Pit of 100 Trials there are no save points or recovery blocks along the way. If you get a game over or you want to exit the dungeon, you will have to restart your progress again when you re-enter.
Do note that you can exit the Pit of 100 Trials by using the warp pipe on the northwest side of the room in every 10th floor.
Badges that can skip battles, such as First Attack and Bump Attack, are disabled. These badges are usually used to skip battles against lower level enemies.
