Paper Mario Thousand Year Door - Up Arrow in Hooktail Castle

The Up Arrow can be found in a hidden room inside Hooktail Castle. To enter this room, you will need to destroy a cracked wall using Admiral Bobbery who joins you after Chapter 5.

Obtain During Elusive Badge Request

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door - Elusive Badge

During the Elusive Badge request, Ms. Mowz will ask you to retrieve a badge in Hooktail Castle. This request will become available after completing Chapter 4, but it is recommended to do this after Chapter 5 so you can do this quest and get the Up Arrow in the castle at the same time.

Steps to Get Up Arrow

1 Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake Up - Arrow 1
After clearing Chapter 5, talk to Merlon outside his house.
2 Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake Up - Arrow 2
Enter Hooktail Castle from Petal Meadows.
3 Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake Up - Arrow 3
Head right after entering Hooktail Castle.
4 Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake Up - Arrow 4
Destroy the cracked wall at the dead end room with Admiral Bobbery.
5 Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake Up - Arrow 5
Enter the room and find Up Arrow in the treasure chest.

How to Use the Up Arrow

Give Merlon Up Arrow to Upgrade to Ultra Rank

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door - Merlon Up Arrow
You will only be able to upgrade your party once until a certain point in the game.

Bring Merlon the Up Arrow after Chapter 5 to upgrade your party members a second time.

How to Get Second Partner Upgrade (Lv. 2)

The Up Arrow Serves No Other Purpose
