Meet in Rogueport Square during Prologue |
The adorable Goombella is the first partner Mario will meet during the game's prologue.
Goombella can help Mario be informed from any area he is in, or get to know any nearby NPC. Her Tattle move registers Mario's enemy in the Tattle Log, which will allow you to view an enemy unit's HP and stats, as well as some tips on how to defeat it.

Koops the Koopa is the second partner Mario can recruit. Mario will meet Koops during Chapter 1.
In the overworld, Mario can launch Koops forward to reach any switches, objects, or hit enemies from afar.

Meet in Boggly Woods in Chapter 2 |
Madame Flurrie is the third partner Mario can recruit. Mario will meet Flurrie during Chapter 2.
Flurrie can use her breath to blow away paper in the overworld to reveal hidden objects or areas. This will also temporarily stun any enemies hit by the wind.
Yoshi |

Hatch Yoshi Egg from Glitzville during Chapter 3 |
Yoshi is the fourth partner Mario can recruit, who hatches from an egg during Chapter 3.
The newly-hatched Yoshi can be named by the player, and his color can vary depending on how long Mario has spent time with the egg.
Mario can ride Yoshi in the overworld which can help him quickly travel long distances.

Help and earn her loyalty in Twilight Town during Chapter 4 |
Vivian, who was formerly an enemy of Mario, will join him as the fifth partner during Chapter 4.
Vivian can use her powers to hide Mario into the shadows, which helps them hide from getting detected by enemies.
Admiral Bobbery |

Admiral Bobbery is the sixth partner Mario can recruit, and is the last one who will join the team during Chapter 5.
Bobbery can light himself up to blow up cracked walls or damage enemies with his explosion.

Complete Elusive Badge! trouble at the Trouble Center after completing Chapter 4 |
Ms. Mowz is the only party member who is an optional recruit, as she will not join Mario's team until you complete certain conditions.
To make her join your team, you need to complete the Elusive Badge! trouble in the Trouble Center, which will be available after Chapter 4.
You can only get more partners by progressing through the game, with the last party member being recruitable at Chapter 5.
Paper Mario TTYD All Chapter Walkthroughs
Only one party member, Ms. Mowz, is an optional recruit. This means that it is possible to miss her.
To recruit Ms. Mowz, you need to complete Chapter 4 and clear the Elusive Badge! quest from the Trouble Center.
