Change your time forward to win amazing prizes in the Happy Lucky Lottery in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD). Read on to find out what prizes can be won, how to cheat in the lottery, and more!
You have a higher chance of winning the first prize in Happy Lucky Lottery if you change the time to a year up to a year and three months later from when you first got the lotto ticket. You can change this in your Nintendo Switch's settings.
If you have changed the date and still cannot get the jackpot prize, try changing the time one day at a time until you hit it.
To win the second jackpot prize, you first must win the initial jackpot.
Once you get the first prize, buy a new lotto ticket, then fill up your inventory to its limit.
Next, try to win the first prize again via date skipping; this time, you will not get that prize since your inventory is full and your lottery ticket won't need to be exchanged.
Keep changing your date until you get the second prize.
If you change the time on your Switch console to one day later, the lottery winning number will change even if no real time has passed.
Note that you only need one lottery ticket to win all the prizes except for the first prize. Once you win the first prize, you will be forced to exchange the ticket for a new one, so it's a good strategy to win all the other prizes first.
Once you have checked the winning numbers, change the time again to one day later. By alternating between checking the results and changing the time, you can play Happy Lucky Lottery multiple times in just one day and try to get all the prizes.
If you change the time to a previous day however, a penalty scene will happen and your lotto ticket will be confiscated. It will also cost you 500 coins to buy a new lotto ticket after that.
If you keep denying about setting the time to a previous day, the Bob-omb will keep gulit tripping you into saying yes, and if you keep saying no until the end, you will still need to pay 500 coins for a new ticket.

Prizes won in the Happy Lucky Lottery depend on how many numbers in your lottery ticket match the daily winning numbers in the lottery results. The more numbers you match, the better the prize will be.
If you match all the numbers, you will get the first prize, a Lucky Day badge. If you match three numbers, you will get the second prize, a Power Plus badge. If you match two numbers, you will get the third prize, an Ultra Shroom.
If you match one number in the lottery results, you get the fourth prize, a Life Shroom. And if you do not match any number, you will get a consolation prize, a Mushroom.
Lottery Rules | Lottery Prize |
---|---|
All numbers match for the 2nd time | Zess Dynamite |
Match 3 numbers for the 2nd time | Zess Special |
After winning the Lucky Day badge for the first prize, the first prize will change into Zess Dynamite. Similarly, after winning the Power Plus badge for the second prize, the second prize will change into a Zess Special.
Note that you cannot win multiple Lucky Day and Power Plus badges since they get replaced after you have won the first and second prize, respectively, for the first time.
You can purchase a lotto ticket for the Happy Lucky Lottery in West Rogueport. The first ticket you buy costs 10 coins, but if you win and buy another ticket or want to change your ticket, it will cost 100 coins.
The lottery ticket will have a number, and if that number matches the daily winning number on the bulletin board, you will recieve a reward.
Rogueport Collectibles, Enemies, and Points of Interest
The daily winning numbers are posted on the bulletin board and updated at midnight.
The will change even if you don't close the game, which means that you can skip the date forward to try another winning number without restarting the game.
If you haven't matched your own numbers with the winning numbers, avoid buying new lotto tickets until you get the jackpot prize.
The mechanic behind this lottery is that the longer you have your ticket, the higher your chance of winning a prize.
You can stick with your first ticket that only costs 10 coins until you win the jackpot, since a new one costs 100 coins.
