All Jump Moves

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Jump Attacks

One of Mario's main attacks are his Jump Moves, which comes from his currently equipped boots or Badges.

With this move, Mario can jump on top of his target's head, whether they are on the ground or airborne. Be sure to check your target if it's something safe to land on, or Mario may take damage instead!

Move FP Description
Jump 0 Attack enemies by stomping on them.
Multibounce 2 Jump on all foes in a row with perfect Action Commands.
Power Bounce 3 Jump on one enemy until you miss an Action Command.
Power Jump 2 Stomp on a single enemy using lots of Attack power.
Shrink Stomp 2 Execute superbly to shrink foes and drop Attack power.
Sleepy Stomp 2 Execute superbly to make enemies sleepy.
Soft Stomp 2 Execute superbly to make enemies soft.
Spin Jump 2 Attack by first stomping, then spin jumping on enemies.
Spring Jump 4 Attack by stomping enemies with a giant spring jump.
Tornado Jump 3 Execute superbly to damage all midair enemies.

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Hammer Attacks

Hammer Moves are the other main attacks that Mario can use, which comes from his currently equipped hammer or Badges, similar to his jump attacks.

Regular hammer attacks work on any grounded enemies but cannot reach those in the air. It may have limited reach, but it is effective against enemies that Mario won't be able to jump on.

Move FP Description
Fire Drive 5 Attack all ground enemies and burn them, as well.
Hammer 0 Hit enemies with the hammer.
Hammer Throw 2 Throw a hammer at one foe, no matter where it is.
Head Rattle 2 Execute superbly to confuse enemies.
Ice Smash 3 Execute superbly to freeze a foe into immobility.
Piercing Blow 2 Deliver damage that pierces enemy defenses.
Power Smash 2 Powerfully smash a foe.
Quake Hammer 3 Slightly damage all ground enemies.
Super Hammer 2 Strike an enemy, knocking it into the enemy behind it.
Ultra Hammer 4 Strike an enemy, knocking it into the enemy behind it.

All Crystal Star Special Moves

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Crystal Star Special

Special Moves are unlocked upon activating the Map in front of the Thousand-Year Door and getting Crystal Stars. These moves require Star Power, which you can get from doing stylish moves and appealing to the audience.

Special Moves are useful during challenging fights, as you can deal massive amounts of damage against several enemies or heal Mario and his partner!

Special Move SP Description How to Unlock
Sweet Treat 1 Restores Mario and his partner's HP and FP, and cures poison. Get the Map
Earth Tremor 2 Shakes the ground to damage all enemies. Get the Diamond Star
Clock Out 2 Immobilizes all enemies for a short period of time. Get the Emerald Star
Power Lift 3 Briefly increases your party's Attack and Defense power. Get the Gold Star
Art Attack 4 Damages all enemies you encircle with the star. Get the Ruby Star
Sweet Feast 5 Restores Mario and his ally's HP and FP, and cures poison. Get the Sapphire Star
Showstopper 2 When successful, defeats your enemies with a single blow! Get the Garnet Star
Supernova 6 Does massive damage to all enemies. Get the Crystal Star

Charge

Charge is a unique move that Mario (or a party member) can use to power up their next move, but uses up their turn. You can get this move if you have the Charge Badge (or Charge P for party members).

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Partner Move

Mario's party members all have their own set of moves and attacks that they can use in battle. These range from attacks that can damage single or multiple targets, or support moves that can buff Mario.

Tattle 0 View enemies' descriptions and see their HP in battle. Goombella
Multibonk 3 Continue bonking foes until you miss an Action Command. Goombella
Rally Wink 4 Wink at Mario to give him the courage for an extra attack. Goombella
Shell Toss 0 Throw a shell at one enemy on the ground. Koops
Power Shell 3 Throw a shell at all enemies on the ground. Koops
Shell Shield 4 Protect Mario from attacks with a giant shell. Koops
Shell Slam 6 Strike all ground enemies, piercing their defenses. Koops
Body Slam 0 Plunge down onto an enemy from above. Madame Flurrie
Gale Force 4 Attack all enemies with a powerful gust of wind. Madame Flurrie
Lip Lock 3 Suck away enemy HP and add it to Flurrie's with a kiss. Madame Flurrie
Dodgy Fog 4 Make Mario dodgy for a time so foes frequently miss him. Madame Flurrie
Ground Pound 0 Drop on enemies from above, crushing them repeatedly. Yoshi
Gulp 4 Inhale an enemy and spit it out at another enemy. Yoshi
Mini-Egg 3 Throw eggs at enemies to shrink them to Tiny size. Yoshi
Stampede 6 Call in a herd of Yoshis to attack all ground enemies. Yoshi
Shade Fist 0 Attack with a burning punch that sets enemies on fire. Vivian
Veil 1 Hide in the shadows with Mario to avoid attacks. Vivian
Fiery Jinx 6 Attack all foes with flames that set them on fire. Vivian
Infatuate 4 Blow a kiss to all enemies to confuse them. Vivian
Bomb 0 Attack a ground-bound foe with an explosion. Admiral Bobbery
Bomb Squad 3 Throw three time bombs that will explode one turn later. Admiral Bobbery
Hold Fast 4 Damage enemies that directly attack Bobbery. Admiral Bobbery
Bob-ombast 9 Attack all enemies with a massive blast. Admiral Bobbery
Love Slap 0 Attack an enemy with a slap that pierces defense. Ms. Mowz
Kiss Thief 2 Steal an enemy's badge or item. Ms. Mowz
Tease 3 Tease an enemy with some sly moves, making them dizzy. Ms. Mowz

To unlock more moves for Mario, you can equip Badges that give Mario additional attacks during battle. You can find these Badges inside treasure chests across the world or from merchants that sell Badges.

Obtain Upgraded Boots and Hammers

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Super Boots

As you progress through the game, you'll find boots and hammer upgrades that will give Mario additional actions in the overworld. These equipment upgrades will also add new jump and hammer moves that Mario can use in battles.

Find Crystal Stars

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Obtain Stars

Every Crystal Star you find as you progress through the game, including the Map that you'll receive in the Prologue chapter, will give Mario unique special moves.

These moves are extremely helpful as they can easily damage multiple enemies or heal your team, but they use up Star Power points instead of Flower Points. Star Power can be replenished by appealing to the audience or executing stylish moves.

Level Up Party Members

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Bring Three Shine Sprites to Merlon

Upon recruiting party members, they will only have access to two moves. Leveling your party members up via Merlon in Rogueport will unlock their third move, but you need 3 Shine Sprites per party member to do so.

To unlock their fourth move, you need to find an item called the Up Arrow in Hooktail Castle and give it to Merlon. You will then be able to level up your characters again, which will unlock their last move.
