Item | How to Get |
---|---|
Golden Leaf | Hit the golden tree at the rightmost part of the north courtyard. |
Steeple Key | Found at the end of the second floor hallway upon moving the staircase to the bottommost door. Use Koops or Yoshi to get this key. |
Lucky Start | Dropped by Atomic Boo if you choose to fight and defeat it |
Mario will get the Ruby Star in Creepy Steeple after finishing the story of Chapter 4 and defeating "Mario." This allows him to use the special move Art Attack in battle.
Although it would appear that you get the Ruby Star quickly in this chapter, it won't actually be in your possession until the very end of this storyline. This means that you won't have the extra Star Power nor Art Attack move until then.

A golden tree can be found in the north courtyard of Creepy Steeple. Use Mario's Paper ability to go through a gap in the fence and onto the grass. Keep going right until you see the gold-colored tree, which you can hit with a hammer to get a Golden Leaf.
This is the only place where you can get this item, and you can harvest Golden Leaves from this tree as many times as you'd like. However, you may need to leave the Creepy Steeple area first then come back to respawn the Golden Leaf.
Atomic Boo is an optional mini boss that can be fought at Creepy Steeple starting from Chapter 4. After releasing the box full of Boos in the basement and returning to the main hall, you can trigger this fight by hitting the swarm of Boos twice using Mario's spinning Super Hammer attack.
After defeating Atomic Boo, the Boos will disperse and drop the Lucky Start badge. This is the only way to get this badge in the game. If you don't trigger this fight in Chapter 4, you can come back in later chapters and do this fight.
A new addition to the Nintendo Switch version of The Thousand-Year Door is a convenient warp pipe in the basement of Creepy Steeple. You can use this warp pipe starting from the second half of Chapter 4 upon clearing the block from this pipe. This makes the back-and-forth in Chapter 4 so much easier and faster.
Twilight Town Collectibles and Points of Interest
After completing Chapter 4, you can find the Boo that asked about the amount of Boos that emerged from the basement chest in the hidden storage room of Creepy Steeple, accessible with Tube Mode.
He has more questions for you, with new quizzes being unlocked after every chapter. After you complete the game and finish his fifth quiz, he'll give you a longer 15-question quiz where he can reward you with the Money Money badge.
