The new Partner Ring Feature in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD) lets players easily switch party members in the overworld. Learn more about this new quality-of-life shortcut!
List of Contents

The Partner Ring is a new quality-of-life feature added in the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake. This will let you easily switch between active party members in the overworld without the need of navigating through menus.
This feature is useful when you need to quickly use a party member's specific field skill to solve a puzzle or attack an enemy from far away before starting a fight.
The Partner Ring is not an item, but is rather a mini menu that you can likely access as soon as you get more than one party member.
This new shortcut to quickly change partner was not present in the GameCube version of TTYD.
In the original game, you need to press the D-Pad on your GameCube controller to quickly open the Party menu before you can change your active partner.
Hold L to open the Partner Ring while on the field. To switch partners, simply tilt the left stick.

The Partner Ring feature unlocks after getting Koops in Chapter 1, which is Mario's second partner.
