The Nostalgic Tunes Badge is a new badge in the Paper Mario TTYD remake and was not available in the original GameCube version of the game.
This badge uses the Nintendo GameCube as its icon, which is the console where the original Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was released.
Nostalgic Tunes GameCube Badge
The Gold Medal Badge is another new badge which can be obtained after cooking all of Zess T.'s Recipes, completing the Tattle Log, and getting all badges.
There are 58 recipes to cook, 134 Tattle Log Entries, 86 badges to obtain.
This badge will change Mario's appearance to a gold color. This does not affect any of his stats or abilities, and is merely a cosmetic upgrade.
85 are badges that were previously in the original game, with two new ones, the Nostalgic Tunes Gamecube Badge, and the Gold Medal Badge.
Badges are special equipment that Mario can wear to get a variety of effects, ranging from getting more health or Flower Points, getting access to new moves and attacks, and even changing the sound effect of Mario's attacks.
How many Badges Mario can equip will depend on how many Badge Points he has. Each Badge requires a certain number of Badge Points to be equipped; you may not be able to wear every Badge you desire with low BP, so choose wisely!
Badges with P at the end give bonuses to Mario's partner, and not Mario himself. Equip these badges if you want to improve your partner's effectiveness during fights!
You can purchase most Badges in the game from merchants found across the map, like in the Lovely Howz of Badges and Charlieton in Rogueport or from Dazzle in Rogueport Sewers.
You can also buy Badges at the Pianta Parlor with Pianta tokens, which you can get by playing games inside the building.
Opening treasure chests found in certain locations on the overworld can also net you some Badges.
Some enemies also drop Badges upon defeating them. This way, you can potentially get multiple Badges if you're lucky enough to get them as drops.
