Some elements of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD) are missable and cannot be triggered or seen again in your playthrough of the game. Read on to learn which to look out for and how to make the most of your playthrough!
List of Contents
A rat in Rogueport names Lumpy will ask Mario for some coins to invest into something. Lumpy will accept coins from the start of the prologue up until Chapter 4, after which you will not be able to give him more coins.
If you give Lumpy coins, you'll be able to reap profits after Chapter 6, where Lumpy will return your coins.
The name and color of Yoshi, who joins your party in Chapter 3 can no longer be changed later. Yoshi's color is determined by how much time you spend with the egg.
Yoshi's name and color have no effect on his abilities, but be mindful if you care about his appearance.

Whacka is an NPC in Pirate's Grotto who drops the recovery item, Whacka Bump, which can recover 25 HP and FP. However Whacka will no longer appear after 8 attacks, which means only 8 pieces of Whacka Bump can be obtained.
Pirate's Grotto Collectibles, Enemies, and Points of Interest
After hitting Whacka eight times, it will stop appearing in Pirate's Grotto. Secretly, it will move to the lowest floor of the Pit of 100 Trials dungeon, and you can fight it as a secret boss after clearing the game and defeating Bonetail, which means that you need to clear the dungeon a second time if you want to fight Whacka.
This is one of the few new additions in the Switch remake of Paper Mario TTYD, as Whacka cannot be fought as a boss in the original GameCube version.
The treasure chest is located after destroying the wall in the room where you fought Gloomtail. It will become impossible to get if you progress further as it will transform into a staircase.
It contains Ultra Shroom and Jammin' Jelly, which are recovery items that can help you in battle.
Missing this treasure chest is not that impactful to your gameplay. Ultra Shroom and Jammin' Jelly are good recovery items, but they can also be obtained from shops or from cooking.
Whenever Mario levels up, you are given the option to increase HP, FP or BP. This can be adjusted later on in the game by paying 39 coins to the NPC, Chet Rippo who you will meet after completing Chapter 5.
How to Respec and Adjust Stats
Your party's stats also increase when they rank up. These stats can also be adjusted with Chet Rippo, similar to Mario, if you don't want to use more Shine Sprites.
A trash can in Professor Frankly's house contains Tattle Logs of enemies or non-recurring enemies you may have missed.
All Enemies in Paper Mario TTYD
After you've completed Chapter 3, you can challenge the Glitz Pit again and find enemies you may have not seen via exhibition matches.
Glitz Pit Collectibles, Enemies, and Points of Interest
Collectibles like Shine Sprites and Star Pieces are necessary for ranking up Mario and your party members. These can also be used for badges which are useful for completing chapters.

Missed a missable! Lumpy’s investment must be done before chapter 4.
