Ground Pound
0 FP |
Attack a grounded or aerial enemy by bouncing on them multiple times in a row. |
Action Command: Mash ZR until the meter is full. Stylish Move: Press the A button once Yoshi is on top of the target before the meter disappears, and press the A button once Yoshi lands after bouncing on the floor. |
|
Gulp
4 FP |
Gulp the leftmost enemy and spit it back out towards the next enemy in line. This attack damages both enemies and ignores Defense. |
Action Command: Press and hold ZR until the meter is full. Release it when the red star icon lights up. Stylish Move: Press the A button as the spit out enemy hits the second enemy. |
|
Mini-Egg
(Super) 3 FP |
Throw eggs at random enemies to deal damage and potentially shrink them, reducing their Attack power. More eggs can be thrown as Yoshi is upgraded. |
Action Command: Press the A button every time the meter fills up to the A icons. A check mark will appear over each icon if you get the timing right. Stylish Move: Press the A button while the last egg is midair. |
|
Stampede
(Ultra) 6 FP |
Attack all grounded enemies by summoning a herd of Yoshi to trample on them. |
Action Command: Quickly alternate between ZL and ZR to fill the meter. Stylish Move: Press the A button immediately after Yoshi whistles. |
Mario can ride on top of Yoshi and move around faster compared to him just walking. Press the X button to ride on Yoshi. You can also hold the X button to float in the air for a few seconds while riding Yoshi, which is useful to cross short gaps.
Yoshi is a party member that will join Mario's adventure as you progress through the game.
As you climb through the Glitz Pit's rankings during Chapter 3, King K, the golden KP Koopa in the locker room, will tell Mario that the Hot Dog Stand outside in Glitzville has something special.
If you check out the shop, you'll see the vendor chasing a Yoshi egg around. Once you catch it, the Yoshi egg will follow you around but will still be unable to fight.
The Yoshi egg will not hatch until you reach rank 11 of the Glitz Pit during the fight with the Armored Harriers, which are two Iron Clefts. At first, you will not win the battle and need to run away, as you will have no way to beat the Iron Clefts.
You will then head back to the locker room and find the Yoshi have hatched from the egg, who has the ability to defeat the Iron Clefts!
Do note that unlike your other party members, you will be able to name your newly-hatched Yoshi. Its color will also vary depending on how much time you've spent with the egg.
