This serves as your introduction to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door's story and game mechanics. In Rogueport, you'll meet your first party member, Goombella, as you learn about the battle system of the game with the help of Professor Frankly.
Mario will also get the map, seek the Thousand-Year Door found in Rogueport Sewers, and start his quest to find all the Crystal Stars. Peach, meanwhile, was kidnapped by Grodus, Lord Crump, and the X-Nauts.

Prologue: A Rogue's Welcome Walkthrough
Mario and Goombella make their way to Petal Meadows and a small town named Petalburg to find the Diamond Star in Hooktail Castle. The team also meets and recruits Koops, a Koopa.

Chapter 1: Castle and Dragon Walkthrough
Mario and his team travel to Boggly Woods after finding out that the next Crystal Star is located inside The Great Tree. They then learn that the tree's inhabitants, the Punies, were captured by Jabbies and the X-Nauts.
Punio, one of the Punies, asks Mario for help. The team recruits Madame Flurrie and heads deep inside the tree to obtain the Emerald Star.

Chapter 2: The Great Boggly Tree Walkthrough
Mario and the team discover the location of the next Crystal Star, which is in the Glitz Pit, a fighting arena in a floating town in the sky. After helping Don Pianta, the team is able to reach the new area via a blimp.
The team then sees that the Gold Star is on Rawk Hawk's belt, who is the champion. Mario signs up to fight in the arena, climbs up the rankings in order to challenge the champion, and even adds a baby Yoshi to his team.
They then learn that the actual Gold Star is being used by Grubba, the Glitz Pitz' manager, to keep himself young. After confronting and defeating the boss in a fight, Mario gets the Crystal Star.

Chapter 3: Of Glitz and Glory Walkthrough
Mario finds out the location of the next Crystal Star, which is at the Creepy Steeple just past Twilight Town. The team makes their journey and discovers that the town is cursed by Doopliss, who steals Mario's body during a brief fight.
Mario returns to town and finds Vivian, one of the Shadow Sirens with whom he previously fought, and joins his team. Mario fights Doopliss again and defeats the monster, getting the Ruby Star after the battle.

Chapter 4: For Pigs the Bell Tolls Walkthrough
Mario locates the next Crystal Star at the Pirate's Grotto in the islands of Keelhaul Key. Mario enlists the help of Admiral Bobbery, who later joins the team.
After exploring the area and heading deep inside the island, they find the long-lost Black Skull pirate ship, with the Sapphire Star being guarded by Cortez. After defeating the boss in battle, Mario and the team retrieve their fifth Crystal Star.

Chapter 5: The Key to Pirates Walkthrough
Mario and the team find out the location of another Crystal Star at the Poshley Sanctum, located in the town of Poshley Heights. After asking for help from Don Pianta, the team hops aboard the Excess Express.
The team then encounters mysteries while aboard the train, and a fellow passenger named Pennington asks Mario for help to investigate. They find out that Doopliss is once again behind the schemes, but as they arrive at Riverside Station, the culprit escapes.
The train is then attacked by Smorgs, which the team defeats and allows the train to continue to its destination. Upon reaching Poshley Sanctum, Pennington helps Mario obtain the Garnet Star.

Chapter 6: 3 Days of Excess Walkthrough
Mario and the team learn from Peach that the last Crystal Star is on the Moon. The team travels to Fahr Outpost, gets shot out of a cannon, and is sent towards the moon, where the X-Naut Fortress is located.
Mario then fights the X-Nauts and gets the Crystal Star, which is the last piece that he needs. After a series of events, the team finds themselves opening the Thousand-Year Door with the power of all the Crystal Stars.

Chapter 7: Mario Shoots the Moon Walkthrough
Mario and the team open the Thousand-Year Door and head inside the Palace of Shadow, which is chockful of tough enemies.
As they find their way deep inside the dungeon, the team finally faces Sir Grodus, who reveals the real secret treasure hidden behind the Thousand-Year Door, which is an ancient demon called the Shadow Queen. The Shadow Queen seeks to take over the world, but the power of the Crystal Stars activate and help Mario and the team in their battle against the game's final boss.
Chapter 8: The Thousand-Year Door Walkthrough
In between levels, you will be playing as Peach, who has been kidnapped and is taken away at the X-Naut Fortress located on the Moon. During these intermission levels, Peach learns all about the X-Nauts and their plan with the help of TEC, a sentient supercomputer.
You will also play through Bowser levels in between chapters, where he is seen chasing after Mario as he collects the Crystal Stars. These levels are reminiscent of the standard side-scrolling and platforming gameplay of regular Mario games, but you'll be playing as the big baddie himself!

The Trouble Center is a building found on the eastern side of Rogueport. After completing the Prologue, you'll be able to accept side quests requested by various characters, which will net you rewards after completing them.
More troubles will be available as you progress through the game.

There are 30 trouble side quests that you can take in the Trouble Center. More troubles will become available as you progress through the chapters in the game.

this guide seems ok, but you miss literally EVERY star piece and other items. A walkthrough would get everything as soon as possible. what about the star pieces in the beginning of the game? you skipped all of them.
