Hammer Move Details

One of Mario's Attacks

Paper Mario TTYD Switch Remake - Hammer Attacks

A hammer move is a type of move that Mario can use in battle in Paper Mario. He will start out with a regular hammer move, but will get more options as he gets upgrades throughout the story.

You will also get more hammer moves if you equip a corresponding badge that gives you a certain move. For example, equipping the Power Smash badge will let you use Power Smash in battle!

Effective Against Enemies on the Ground

Mario's hammer moves are powerful attacks that are great against enemies on the ground.

Do note that most of Mario's hammer attacks will not be able to reach flying enemies, so you need to use either a jump attack or an item to damage them.

Use Hammer Throw for Flying Enemies

Equipping the badge Hammer Throw will give Mario the move of the same name, which allows him to throw his hammer at a single flying target. This is the only hammer move that can reach flying enemies.

Power Up with Hammerman Badge

The Hammerman Badge will increase the damage of Mario's hammer attacks, at the cost of being unable to use jump moves.

This badge can be purchased from Charlieton in Roguetown for 180 Coins.
