Mario can throw Admiral Bobbery when you press the X button, which will cause him to light his fuse and walk forward before exploding, destroying cracked walls or damaging any enemies. Hold the X button will make Bobbery stay in Mario's hands, while pressing the X button will make him blow up early.
Admiral Bobbery is a party member that will join Mario's adventure as you progress through the game.
During Chapter 5, Mario will be tasked with finding the admiral in Rogueport, where he will learn of his sad past. Bobbery will then join the voyage, but he will not join your party until halfway through the chapter.
In Keelhaul Key, Admiral Bobbery will be attacked by Embers. He will appear that he is about to die, but after giving him a Chuckola Cola from Flavio, he will be reinvigorated and will join Mario's team.
