How to Increase Stats

Defeat Enemies to Gain Star Points

Defeating enemies is the only way for Mario and his party to level up. Given this, it's highly recommended to fight all enemies encountered throughout the playthrough and refrain from running away from battles. Doing so ensures Mario and his party won't be outmatched as the game progresses.

Moreover, the amount of Star Points given depends on the enemy's level. Lower level enemies will give less Star Points, so when Mario and his party increases in level, they need to defeat stronger foes to get more Star Points.

How to Level Up Fast

Level Up to Increase HP, FP, and BP

For Heart Points (HP), Flower Points (FP), and Badge Points (BP), players can increase them each time Mario levels up. However, in order to level up, Mario needs to accumulate Star Points.

Attack and Defense Does Not Increase When Leveling Up

Do note that Mario's attack or defense does not increase when he levels up, unlike other RPGs. Mario's attack and defense stats will stay the same regardless if he is Level 2 or 99, but you can increase his damage output or his tankiness with either items or badges.

Equip Badges

Equipping badges is another way of increasing Mario and his party's stats. There are badges that increase HP, FP, Attack, and Defense, so equipping them will further boost Mario and his party's stats.
