Heartful Cake Recipe... Quest Objectives
1	Talk to Toce T. at her house in Petalburg, to the right of Koops' house, to get the Heartful Cake recipe.
2	Tell Merlee the recipe at the charmer's hut in the background of Rogueport sewers.
3	Get Cake Mix from the Pianta Parlor.
4	Go back to the charmer's hut, and give the Cake Mix to Merlee.

Where to Find Heartful Cake Recipe

Get the Heartful Cake Recipe from Toce T.

You can get the Heartful Cake recipe by talking to Toce T. in Petalburg. Toce T.'s house is the one to the right of Koops' house. She'll tell you that the ingredients for the cake are Cake Mix and Ruin Powder. Now, you need to tell Merlee this information.

Where to Get Cake Mix

Cake Mix Can be Obtained from the Pianta Parlor

After telling Merlee the Heartful Cake recipe, you'll be asked to get Cake Mix. You can buy Cake Mix from the Pianta Parlor for 6 piantas. If you don't have enough piantas, you can play minigames or exchange some coins through the Pianta Changer machine. Three coins is equal to one pianta.

Once you have enough piantas, talk to Lahla the Boo to trade in your winnings for items. Buy Cake Mix, then go back to Merlee to get your reward.

How to Get Cake Mix in Paper Mario TTYD

You Don't Need the Ruin Powder

You just need the cake Mix as Merlee already has the Ruin Powder. If you want to cook the Cake for yourself though, you can oonly do it after putting the Ruby Star in the Thousand-Year Door after Chapter 4 and finishing Zess T's Trouble.

You need a Point Swap from Glitzville's Souvenir Store, a Spite Pouch from Twilight Town's Store, and the Cake Mix.

Heartful Cake Recipe... from Merlee will appear at the Trouble Center once you complete Chapter 3. To activate this request, select it from the bulletin board at the Trouble Center.

Accept From Trouble Center on the East Side of Rogueport

The quest must first be accepted from the Trouble Center bulletin board before you can do any of the steps to complete it.

To get to the Trouble Center, you must first get through Gus, the guard blocking the east side of Rogueport. You can either pay him coins every time you need to pass or defeat him in combat. Once Koops joins your party, defeating him becomes much easier.
