The Moon has a lower gravitational force, allowing Mario to jump higher in the overworld. However, controlling Mario might feel a bit trickier since he tends to move slower on the Moon.
The different sections of the Moon are all connected in a loop. If you keep going in one direction on the Moon, you'll eventually make it back to where you started. Unfortunately, this may cause you to go around in circles.
If you feel lost while hunting for all the collectibles, try using Goombella's Tattle ability to help you get an idea of where you are. If she sounds like she just landed on the Moon and is seeing it for the first time, then you're most likely in the part of the Moon where you first landed. Your landing area also has the only Save block on the Moon outside of X-Naut Fortress.
The Moon is the location of the X-Naut Fortress, which can be accesed through a warp pipe hidden in a breakable rock. This is the main attraction on the Moon, since it is the only place you can go to.

Description | The best place in the world for stargazing, but also a place pocked with craters large and small. In contrast to the world where Mario and his friends live, it's very difficult to traverse. |
