Action Commands are a gameplay element of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (TTYD) that challenge a player's timing and used to deal and prevent damage. Read on to see all Action Commands, what they do, and how to do them!

Gale Force | Press and hold the A button when the on-screen guide shows it being pressed. Release the A button when the guide shows it being released. Do this until the gauge is full. | Increased chance of success |
Ground Pound | Mash ZR until the meter is full. | Increased damage |
Gulp | Press and hold ZR until the meter is full. Release it when the red star icon lights up. | Increased damage |
Headbonk | Press the A button before bouncing and hitting the target. | Increased damage |
Hold Fast | Press the A button following the button prompts on the screen. | Increase the number of turns Hold Fast is active |
Infatuate | Press the A button when a heart appears over an enemy. | Confuse the targeted enemy, which may cause them to attack other enemies or heal your party. |
Kiss Thief | Press the A button once the bar is past the OK indicator. | Successfully steal an item that the enemy is holding, or obtain a badge or item that the enemy can hold |
Lip Lock | Press and hold the A button when the red star icon is present to fill the meter. Release the A button when the red star icon disappears. | Increased damage |
Love Slap | Quickly tilt the L Stick left and right to fill the meter. | Increased damage |
Mini-Egg | Press the A button every time the meter fills up to the A icons. A check mark will appear over each icon if you get the timing right. | Get one egg for every correctly-timed Action Command |
Multibonk | With each jump attack, press the A button before bouncing and hitting the target to do more jumps. | Continuous damage until Action Command misses |
Power Shell | Hold the L Stick to the left to fill the meter. Release the L Stick once the meter is full and a red star appears. | Increased damage |
Rally Wink | Mash the A and B buttons following the guide to fill in the gauge past the OK meter. | Gives Mario an extra turn to attack. |
Shade Fist | Press the corresponding button once it is revealed on the screen. | Increased damage |
Shell Shield | Press A once the moving bar is in the middle of the gauge and the shell is centered. | Increased defense |
Shell Slam | Tilt the L Stick to the left repeatedly until the meter is full. | Increased damage |
Shell Toss | Hold the L Stick to the left. Release the L Stick once the bar lines up with the middle and lights up. | Increased damage |
Smooch | Mash the A and B buttons to fill the meter. | Increased HP gain |
Stampede | Quickly alternate between ZL and ZR to fill the meter. | Increased number of hits |
Tattle | Press the A button when the cursor lines up in the center of the reticule. | Check the target's HP, stats, and description. |
Tease | Hold and release the A button to fill the meter as much as possible without overflowing. | Increased chance of success |
Veil | Press the correct buttons following the button sequence shown on the screen. | Vivian and Mario disappear for one turn, preventing them from taking damage. |

Earth Tremor | Press the A button following the button prompts on the filling meter. A check mark will appear over each icon if you get the timing right. | Increased damage and height range for every correctly filled meter |
Clock Out | Mash the button that appears on the enemies' side of the stage. This button may change every few seconds. | Keep the bomb at the enemies' side and immobilize those hit for more turns |
Power Lift | Use the L Stick to move the cursor onto the spots with the up arrows, and press the A button to hit the target. Orange arrows fill the Attack meter, while blue arrows fill the Defense meter. | Increased Attack power every time the Attack meter is filled and/or increased Defense every time the Defense meter is filled |
Art Attack | Use the L Stick to encircle the target enemies as many times as you can. | Damage all encircled enemies |

The Simplifier Badge makes Action Commands easier but earns less star power, which is needed for using special moves.
This badge can be purchased from the Lovely Howz of Badges for 50 coins.

The Unsimplifier Badge is the opposite of the Simplifier Badge, which makes Actions Commands more difficult to do but earns more star power.
This badge can be purchased from the Lovely Howz of Badges for 50 coins.
Action Commands work as timing challenges that let you prevent or deal more damage in battle. They can also earn Star Power.
You will have to input button presses at certain timings, move the control stick in different directions, mash buttons, all within a timing window that will increase the damage you deal or decrease the damage you take.
Action Commands can work in tandem with Stylish Moves to earn even more Star Power!
Stylish Moves are executed with properly timed button presses, which varies depending on which move is being performed.
