SS Tier Hammer Moves are the most recommended ones to use in battles due to them having high damage against any enemy. When buffed with badges, they can easily defeat any enemy you can encounter.
S Tier Hammer Moves, like the SS Tier, are the ones you need to consider in using in battle because they can provide high damage against any enemy, but can be irrelevant sometimes.
A Tier Badges are the least recommend to moves to use in battle because of them having low damage against enemies, but they can still be useful though.
Most hammer moves are badges that Mario can equip and can be collected when dropped or purchased from shops.

These hammer moves are the most used and recommended to use in every battle against every enemy you encounter. They consistently provide high damage with every swing that hits an enemy.
Use badges that increases your attack more like P-Up, D-Down or Power Plus to pulverize every enemy in every battle. Hammerman can also be used to increase your hammer attacks, but in return you cannot use jump moves.

These hammer moves can provide high damage against most enemies you can encounter, but some of them can be irrelevant. With the help of Hammerman they can still be very helpful in defeating your enemies.
For example, Power Smash and Ice Smash are good hammer moves overall but can be replaced with Quake Hammer and Fire Drive that can easily defeat multiple ground enemies at once.

Hammer Throw would be an exception for all hammer moves due to it being the only hammer move that can damage flying enemies. Although, it deals low amount of damage but can be increased with Power Plus.
