Dead Wire is the best ammo mod to get due to its ability to stun zombies and generate an electric damage field that affects nearby enemies. This ammo mod is also useful in taking down Amalgams and the Patient 13 boss, since electricity is their primary weakness.
The Dead Wire mod also plays a vital role in the Terminus Easter Egg since it is used in one of the steps to craft the Beamsmasher.
Napalm Burst can deal damage over time by applying a burn effect on zombies and inflict extra bits of damage. This ammo mod shines in Liberty Falls since it is the main weakness of Manglers and Abominations and you'll find an overwhelming presence of them in this map.
The Shadow Rift ammo mod can create some breathing space for you as it has a chance to suck zombies into a black hole and then warp them several feet away from you.
Brain Rot has the ability to turn zombies into allies, including Special Zombies (with Big Game Augment equipped). This can alleviate the pressure of the higher rounds since brain-rotted zombies will assist you in attacking other zombies.
Do note that the effects of brain rot only last for a short while, as the affected zombies will eventually die from it.
Cryo Freeze can slow down zombies chasing after you, buying you some extra time to escape to safety. Not only that, but zombies affected by Cryo Freeze will receive some extra damage, giving you an easier time in dealing with a horde.
