Ending Explained

Case Seemingly Kills Jane Harrow

Case Strangles Jane

In the final sequence of Checkmate: Black Sea, Case pursues Jane onto her helicopter in order to stop her from deploying the bioweapon called the Cradle. In the ensuing fight, the helicopter pilot gets shot, causing the aircraft to crash into the water.

As the helicopter starts sinking, Case and Jane start their final showdown. Listening to the voices in his head, Case uses the Cradle as a blunt weapon against Jane, causing the case to rupture and expose both to the bioweapon. In a fit of aggression, Case starts strangling Jane before the screen cuts to black.

If players recall the events of Emergence, you'll notice that for most of the mission, Case was hallucinating the enemies he was killing. The same could be said in this last mission.

We can't trust that what we were seeing after their exposure to Cradle was true (since at some point you even start seeing Jane as a zombie). While Case seemingly killed Jane, their fates can't be fully confirmed until the story is continued in a future update or installment.

Woods and Marshall Meet with Livingstone

Woods and Marshall Briefed by Livingstone

After the final sequence with Case, the timeline jumps forward two weeks. We see all the surviving characters meet up with Daniel Livingstone (the CIA director who suspended them) as he charges them with forming a new, covert team - similar to how Task Force 141 was teased at the end of the Modern Warfare Reboot.

Livingstone tells Marshall and Woods that they can continue to work in the shadows just like they always did. He emphasizes that the Pantheon threat is still rampant and that there are still Pantheon moles within the CIA.

The scene ends by cutting to a mystery man sitting in Livingstone's desk back in Langley. He inputs the CIA Director's credentials into the computer, gaining access to the organization's files before the cinematic ends.

Who is the Mystery Man in the Ending?

Looks Like the Jackson Caine Operator in Multiplayer

Jackson Caine Speculation

The mystery man shown in the final cutscene of the BO6 Campaign bears a striking resemblance to the Multiplayer Operator, Jackson Caine. According to his bio, he is a CIA agent who trained alongside Troy Marshall before being recruited by Pantheon after his brother was killed in Lebanon.

However, do note that his bio states that he is the leader of Crimson One - a team within Pantheon. This means he is not the leader of Pantheon itself, with the available lore hinting that there may be someone bigger and badder pulling the strings.

Potentially Makes an Appearance at the Start of the Campaign

Players can spot a person who looks like Jackson Caine at the very start of the BO6 Campaign; specifically, during the cinematics that trigger as you play through Bishop Takes Rook. He can be seen just behind Livingstone, operating a recording machine at the back of the interrogation room.

Does Woods Die in Black Ops 6?

Woods Lives Even After Getting Stabbed

Woods is Still Alive

Despite being stabbed by Jane Harrow in Checkmate, the grizzled veteran survives through the end of the Black Ops 6 Campaign. You see him with Marshall getting briefed by Daniel Livingstone in the cutscene at the end of the game.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene?

No Post-Credits Scene Like in MW3

Black Ops 6 has no post-credits scene. Unlike Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (where Price kills General Shepherd), you are safe to skip the credits scene since there are no extra cutscenes afterward.

Are There Multiple Endings?

There are No Multiple Endings

Livingstone in the Crosshairs

Black Ops 6's predecessor, Black Ops Cold War, featured a campaign that allowed you to get multiple endings depending on your decisions. Black Ops 6, in comparison, does not have multiple endings.
