Black Ops 6 How to Upgrade All Swords

This is a guide on how to upgrade all four Swords in the new map, Citadelle des Morts in Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (BO6). Learn how to upgrade all the Bastard Swords variants here!

How to Upgrade All Swords

How to Upgrade All Swords
1 Solais Lion of Light Sword - eliminate glowing parasites
2 Balmung Void Sword - solve Antiquity puzzle
3 Caliburn Dragon's Fire Sword - ignite with Dragon Fire
4 Durendal Electric Sword - charge with lightning rods

You have to do sword-specific challenges to upgrade all 4 swords. We recommend upgrading the Light Sword first since it requires killing parasites, and thus, gets progressively harder to do each round that goes by.

How to Upgrade Solais Lion of Light Sword

# Steps
1 Getting the Lion Bastard Sword
Go to the Dining Hall and pick up Solais (Light Sword) from the Lion statue.

2 Killing the Golden Parasites
When the Parasites with a gold tinge begin to spawn, use the sword to kill one of them and charge it. Make sure to kill only one at a time, as you will need four in total to open the door.
3 Door with Lion Location
When the sword turns gold, head to the alley leading to the Speed Cola Machine and hit the door with the lion crest using the sword. A rune will appear on the door if done correctly. Repeat this process four times to open the door.
4
Insert the sword into the pillar, and the four runes will begin flying around the room. Shoot the runes in the order they appear on the pillar — shoot the rune at the top of the pillar first, then the second from the top, and so on.

Note that if you fail this event, you'll have to wait till the next round for the reattempt.
5 Bastard Sword Transformed to Solais
Get the Solais: Lion of Light Sword from the pillar.

How to Upgrade Balmung Void Sword

# Steps
1
Head to the Dining Hall and Pick up Balmung (Void Sword) from the Raven statue.

2 Getting Antiquity Item
Head to the Alchemical Lab and search for your Antiquity Item. These are randomized and may vary with each playthrough. The Antiquity Items rest on a wooden base and include a description. You can obtain one of five options: twin bird skulls, a scorpion or fish fossil, a sheep horn, or a lion jaw.
3 Activating the Alchemy Circle
Once you have your Antiquity Item, head to the Tavern Cellar and interact with the Alchemy Circle twice to set both the Antiquity Item and the Sword.
4 Solving the Alchemy Circle
Solve the Alchemy Circle — The solution depends on the Antiquity Item that you obtained. Submit your answer, and if you got it correctly, a portal will spawn nearby.

5 Guiding the Orbs to the Portals
Position yourself near the portal and direct the three orbs into it. Once all three orbs have entered, the portal will relocate, requiring you to repeat the process. The portal will shift twice: first near the bar and then near the pool table on the Tavern’s second floor.

Tip: Keep one Zombie alive during this step and steer clear of the orbs, as they can cause damage.
6 Claiming Balmung Void Sword
Once you’ve successfully directed the orbs into the three portals, the glowing purple light will return to the Tavern Cellar, leading to the Alchemy Circle. After a short animation, you’ll be able to collect the Balmung Void Sword.

How to Upgrade Caliburn Dragon's Fire Sword

# Steps
1
Go to the Dining Hall and Pick up Caliburn from the Dragon statue.
▶︎ How to Get All Bastard Swords
2
Insert Caliburn into the sword slot in front of the Dragon head statue, which is positioned at the top of the staircase next to the Jugger-Nog machine.
3
Three braziers will ignite outside the castle: one at the Village Ramparts, one at the Town Square, and one along the Nature Path. Interact with each brazier in turn to collect Dragon Fire, which will cause damage over time. Quickly bring the Dragon Fire back to the Caliburn sword. Once all three have been placed on the sword, it will transform into a fire sword.

Tip: It’s advisable to have Jugger-Nog and Stamin-Up active during this step to prevent dying from the Dragon Fire.

How to Upgrade Durendal Electric Sword

# Steps
1
Head to the Dining Hall and Pick up Durendal (Lightning Sword) from the Stag (Deer) statue.
▶︎ How to Get All Bastard Swords
2 Lightning Rod by Deadshot
Collect the first Lightning Rod located to the left of the Deadshot Daiquiri Perk Machine.
3 Shooting the Box for Lightning Rod
Acquire the second Lightning Rod by shooting the electrical box near the Speed Cola Perk Machine (southeast of the map) while equipped with the Deadwire Ammo Mod.
4 Talking to Krafft and Getting Lightning Rod
Get the final Lightning Rod by talking to Krafft in the Dungeon (or having one of your teammates do so) and killing Zombies until the Lightning Rod drops. Zombies that are still alive may also instantly die and drop the Lightning Rod after talking to Krafft.
5 Starting Hillside Rampart Challenge
Head to the right side of the Hillside Ramparts and interact with the metal vase to place all three Lightning Rods.
6 Charging Sword and Hitting Vase
After inserting the Lightning Rod, a thunderstorm will consume the Hillside Ramparts, causing infinite zombies to spawn. Continue killing the zombies until your sword becomes electrically charged. Once charged, strike the vase, transferring the charge from your sword to the rods. Repeat this process three times to complete the challenge.
7 Calaiming the Durendal
Once all three rods are electrified, interact with the vase again to place the Bastard Sword. After a brief moment, you will be able to pick up the upgraded Bastard Sword, which will have transformed into the Wonder Weapon, Durendal.
