Valkyrie Gunnr Location

Valkyrie Gunnr is the very first Valkyrie that you may wish to fight, as you come across her Hidden Chamber soon after getting a piece of the giant Thamur's chisel during The Magic Chisel quest. She is the easiest of all the Valkyries to defeat, but also the one with the lesser rewards.

Valkyrie Gunnr Fight Guide

Opening Attack

Equip the Blades of Chaos and head straight for Gunnr if you have it already. As she opens her wings, unleash both Light and Heavy Runic Attacks against her one after the other. If you choose to battle her with only the Leviathan Axe avaialble, make use of its Runic attacks here in the same manner.

Valkyrie Gunnr Attack Patterns

Gunnr is one of the few Valkyries who does not possess more than one unblockable attack. Most of her strikes against you will be ones you can easily parry or block.

Attack 1

Gunnr will charge at you with her Scythe, indicated by the golden ring she'll have around her just before she moves in to strike you. Parry these attacks to leave her vulnerable. A variant of this attack will see her swing her Scythe around for a second strike, so be wary.

Attack 2

A variant of the first attack type she has, Gunnr will rise up in the air and bring her Scythe down on you. She might unleash a secondary strike after the first isn't parried.

Attack 3

If you manage to unleash a combo against her, she will try to use her wings in wide, angled sweep attacks. After the end of these, she may use her Scythe, which you can parry, or use a side stab against you which you cannot block. Evade to the right in this situation.

Tips and Strategies

Try and save Atreus' arrows for when Gunnr flies up in the air. It is possible to disrupt her attacks or bring her down to the ground. Having Countering Strike unlocked in the skill tree for your shield will also be extremely useful when trying to deal quick damage after a parry.

Having skills like Whirling Storm and its equiavlent for the Blades of Chaos will make counter-attacking easier.
