Soon after reaching the bridge in Behind the Lock, you'll be attacked by Modi. Events transpire that require you to ask for Freya's help in curing Atreus of his sickness.

| 1 | Take Atreus to your boat. |
| 2 | Take your boat back to Freya's Cave. |
| 3 | Enter Freya's home. |
| 4 | Use Freya's boat to move down the river. |

| 5 | Follow the path back to your home. Defeat the enemies around your house. |
| 6 | Enter your home. |
| 7 | Use the Blades of Chaos against the enemies outside. |
| 8 |  Use the Mystic Gateway. Travel to Brok's Shop. Consider getting upgrades to your weapons with the dwarf. |

| 9 | Use the Realm Travel Room to travel to Helheim. |
| 10 | Exit the Realm Travel Room. |

| 11 | Follow the bridge path. NOTE: There is a chest at the end with a Spartan Charge inside. |
| 12 | Burn away the roots blocking your way. |
| 13 |  Continue along the bridge. At the end of the bridge, the gate to Hel itself will be closed. Take the path to the left blocked by roots you can burn. |
| 14 | Climb the pillar at the end of the path. |
| 15 | Continue along the path. Climb up the wall when the floor collapses. |
| 16 |  Burn the roots on the wall. Climb up the fallen pillar up the wall. |
| 17 |  Reach the Bridge of the Damned. |
| 18 | Defeat the Bridge Keeper. |
| 19 | Interact with the pillar to the right of the bridge's gate. |

| 20 |  Capture the Winds of Hel. Use the Blades of Chaos on the ball of light atop the pillar. |
| 21 |  Open the gate. Throw the Winds of Hel into the ball at the center of the gate. |
| 22 | Open the gate on the other side. Take the Winds of Hel from the large gate and use it on the gate on the other side. |
| 23 | Follow the bridge back to the Realm Travel Room. |
| 24 | Travel to Midgard. |
| 25 |  Use the Mystic Gateway to get back to Freya. |
The Bridge Keeper, named Mattugr Helson, is a special Troll tasked with guarding the Bridge of the Damned in Helheim. He is not that much different from other Trolls that make use of ice as their elemental way of dishing out damage.
