How to Unlock Second Hand Soul

After meeting the World Serpent during the Path to the Mountain quest, you have the option to explore the surrounding area.

Head to the southeast side of the Lake of Nine and find the Volunder Chasm.

Head to the Volunder Chasm

	Objectives
1	Head to the Volunder Chasm east of the Cliffs of the North Raven. Dock your boat on the beach.
2	Head up towards the ledges until you find a crevice on the right. Press the Circle button to squeeze through the crevice.
3	Continue walking towards the passage. Press the Circle button to move inside the small cavern.
4	Press the Triangle button on the table next to Brok to start the Favor.

Head Into the Volunder Mines

5	Press the Circle button to use the entry stone to open the doors. Head further inside and watch the cutscene.
6	After the cutscene, drop down the ledge and defeat the Draugrs and Nightmares that appear. Hit the red urn hanging from the ceiling to take them out quickly.
7	Head to the Soul Eater's direction and press the Circle button to open the gate.
8	Keep your guard up as a Revenant will attack at the end of the gate. Use Atreus' arrows to disperse the mist, allowing you to do some damage.
9	Head to the left and jump on the ledge to see a locked door with three seals. Much like Nornir Chests, you need to destroy the seals to unlock it.

Unlock the Sealed Door

10	On your right, find the R rune and hit the red urn above it.
11	Face the sealed door and turn around with the Down Arrow on the D-Pad and find the C rune on the rock wall.
12	Drop down on the two ledges and head where the Soul Eater went. Turn right to find a gate with the N rune inside.
13	Be ready as you'll get attacked by Nightmares and Draugrs when heading back to the sealed door.
14	Open the sealed door and head to the left. Drop down the ledge to face the Soul Eater.

Defeat the Soul Eater

15	Use Ranged Attacks to defeat the boss. Throw the pieces that it drops to deal massive damage. Watch out for the Draugrs that spawn on the corner of the arena.
16	Defeating the Soul Eater rewards you with the following loot: ・The Alchemist's Ring ・Fire Sigil of Protection ・ World Serpent Scale Fragments ・ Soft Svartalfheim Steel ・ Hacksilver
17	Be sure to open the chest in the area. Inside is a Fury of the Ice Troll Runic Attack.

Return to Brok

18	On the left of the chest are a chain and wooden planks with yellow marks. Head there and have Atreus lower the chain for you.
19	Proceed to the next area and press the Circle button to zip line at the other side.
20	Defeat out the Nightmares and Draugr that appear. Use the red urns to placed around the area to take them out quickly.
22	Jump and climb the ledge. Face the enemies inside. Use the Block Break skill to break the shield-bearing Draugr's block.
23	Continue forward and press the Circle button to lower the chain, leading you back to where you first encountered the Soul Eater.
24	Head back to Brok to receive a Grip of Volunder and to complete the favor.

Boss Strategy: Soul Eater

Use Ranged Attacks

Throw the Leviathan Axe while its chest is exposed to deal damage. Avoid facing it head-on as the boss is resistant to melee attacks.

Pick up the chunks that it drops by pressing the Circle button and throw into its chest when it's exposed.

You can also use the red urns around the area to hit the Soul Eater and deal massive damage.
