Exchange Secret Letter Clues for Secret LettersWhile Secret Letters cannot be farmed per se, there are a few general ways to get them in the game including using Secret Letter Clues, increasing your Trial Rank to unlock them in the shop, and as potential drops for defeating Nocturnal Echoes Bosses.
Exchange Secret Letter Clues for Secret Letters
Once you have gathered enough Secret Letter Clues, you can exchange them for corresponding Secret Letters. This can be done through the Covert Commissions tab in the Shop. 10 Secret Letter Clues can be exchanged for 1 Secret Letter.

Challenging Commissions is one method for getting Secret Letter Clues, where their drop rate can potentially increase as the Commission level increases. It's worth taking note that gold-tier rewards are the hardest to obtain, while those in the bronze-tier are the easiest to obtain.

Secret Letters in the shop only become available for purchase once you reach certain Trial Ranks. Almost every Trial Rank leveled up will unlock a new Secret Letter that’s purchasable in the Shop.

Defeat Noctural Echoes Bosses
Nocturnal Echoes is a game mode wherein you can challenge previously defeated bosses. In this mode, you can take on weekly bosses that may drop specific Secret Letters exclusive to them.
While these bosses can be challenged to farm Secret Letters, take note that challenging Nocturnal Echoes to claim rewards is limited to 5 attempts each week.

How to Use Secret Letters
Use to Determine Reward Pool in Covert Commissions
Secret Letters can be used to determine the reward pool in Covert Commissions.
Before starting the Commission, you can choose 1 of 6 items in the reward pool to get item rewards that can be used for unlocking a corresponding characters, weapons, and Demon Wedges.
Pity System
Each Secret Letter has a chance to yield up to 10 Character Thoughts, as well as blueprints for weapon components and Demon Wedges. However, it's important to note that these are not guaranteed. Moreover, obtaining rewards using Secret Letters in Covert Commisions is understood to be entirely random.
So, it's recommended to play more difficult Covert Commission stages for potentially increased drop rates instead of simply repeating runs.
Get Character Thoughts, Weapon Components, and Demon Wedges
Character Secret Letters can be used to to get character thoughts and unlock characters, while Weapon Secret Letter can be used to obtain different weapon components used for forging corresponding weapons.
Multiple items and components are required to unlock characters, weapons, and Demon Wedges, and using Secret Letters in Covert Commissions can help you potentially unlock the needed items and components you need.
Upon completing the Covert Commission, you are allowed to select only one as a reward. Some of these rewards are rarer than others, so it will likely take multiple attempts to claim your desired unlockable.
How to Unlock Secret Letters
Complete Go, Geniemons! Quest
Secret Letters become available once the quest Go, Geniemons! has been completed.
Do note that Secret Letter Clues can be obtained as early as the beginning of Chapter 1: Noctoyager Act 1, but they cannot be exchanged for Secret Letters until then.
