Todesritter Analysis

Powerful Anti-Newtype

The Todesritter, commonly referred to as Todes in the Gundam community, is an anti-Newtype mobile suit like the Blue Destiny Unit-1 and the Pale Rider (Space Type). Out of this trio, Todesritter is the best outside of a few niche scenarios where BD-1 is better.

Its EX skill deals 693% ATK damage to a single enemy unit, and if that unit is a Newtype Machine, it takes another instance of damage worth 693% ATK as well. This EX skill also grants a 43% evasion buff and a 60% critical rate buff. Not only does this EX skill deal good amounts of damage, it also grants a huge critical rate buff and now that crits have been reworked, they're extremely strong. With Ez8 alongside it, Todesritter can benefit from a 100% critical rate and dish out very high consistent damage.

When fully Transcended, this mobile suit can use its EX skill very early into the match as it benefits from an 80% EX gauge restoration skill right when the battle begins. Most units only restore 50% of their EX gauge, so Todesritter can use its EX skill much faster than most units. That means that it can burst a Newtype machine with big damage early on while benefiting from its 60% crit rate buff.

Its anti-Newtype capabilities don't stop with its EX skill, as it is 55% more accurate while dealing 120% more beam damage to Newtype Machines. Its other regular skills include a 400,000 first weapon damage cap increase and a stacking 4.2% beam damage buff on dealing damage that maxes out at 42% or 10 stacks. Finally, like Magna Martell (Awakened), it restores 68% of its max HP and 68% of its EX gauge when its health falls below 50%.

Stronger When Transcended and Potential Unleashed

Transcending this unit is a must for PvP, as this allows it to reap the crit rate buffs while dealing huge damage to Newtypes with its EX skill very early into the match, thanks to the 80% EX gauge restoration skill. Other Transcendent Skills at max Transcendence Lv. Include a 25% accuracy buff and a 36% beam damage buff.

Potential Unleashed is also very important, as this affects the EX skill's damage and buff potency. Keep in mind that the critical rate from its EX skill plays a big part in the Todesritter's damage output. You'll want it at least at Potential Lv. 2 so that it gets a 48% critical rate from its EX Skill, which adds up to 98% when paired with the Ez8.

Great Against The Top Units

Plenty of the top-tier units in the game are Newtype Machines. Most Elite Arena teams are running teams with Gyan, so Todesritter is likely to be attacking an Armored unit first. The best Armored units by far are The-O and the Full Armor ZZ Gundam, both of which are Newtypes that'll get annihilated by the Todesritter. Todes has the crit damage to bypass the FAZZ's accuracy while having very high accuracy to counter The-O's evasion. Zeong and Magna Martell (Awakened), two of the best DPS units in the game right now are also Newtype Machines that'll struggle against the Todesritter.

Overall, the Todesritter is an excellent mobile suit for Arena thanks to how well it fits with the current meta. It's great against the top units, synergizes extremely well alongside the top support, and has high amounts of crit damage. It's a situationally good PvE unit as well, though it'll only really shine against Newtype opponents.

Chloe is the best pilot for the Todesritter because her buffs synergize well with the Todesritter's kit. She grants 24% more evasion for the first 30 seconds of combat, bringing the total to 67% when its EX skill buff is active. She also grants a straightforward 46% ranged sense buff, as well as a stacking ranged sense buff worth 15% on dealing damage that maxes out at 150% or 10 stacks.

This pilot further improves this mobile suit's anti-Newtype abilities. Against mobile suits that fall under this unit category, the Todesritter is 48% more accurate and has 184% more ranged sense. In total, the duo has 380% ranged sense when attacking Newtype Machines, while benefiting from 128% accuracy.
