Gundam EX Analysis

Instant Burst EX Skill

The Gundam EX is equipped with an EX skill that deals 502% of its ATK twice. While this unit does not have a damage cap increase, it doesn't need it since its EX skill deals two instances of damage instead of just one high-powered blast. This EX skill can be fired off immediately at Transcendent Lv. 5 since one of its Transcendent buffs grants it 99% EX gauge restoration at the start of combat. The Gundam EX also restores 5% of its EX gauge each time it evades, which it can do at a decent rate since it starts battles with 50% evasion for 20 seconds and receives up to 25% more from its Transcendent skills.

As for its other offensive features, it receives 36% beam and projectile damage from its Transcendent skills, 54% buffs to both damage types for the first 20 seconds of battle from its Skill 1, and stacking projectile and beam damage buffs on evade of up to 70%. This mobile suit deals beam damage with its first 2 weapons and projectile damage with its third weapon.

Only Strong On Land

While on paper this does sound like a powerful unit capable of instantly bursting opponents with 1004% of its ATK with its EX skill, it's not as good as it sounds. One glaring weakness is how this unit is only good on Land maps, which is only really common in some PvE battles. It has an ✖ rating on Space maps and a △ for Underwater. A triangle signifies a noticeable reduction in damage and stats when fighting in certain maps while an ✖ grants an even bigger debuff. While Underwater maps aren't very common, Space maps are and all PvP battles are in Space. That said, the Gundam EX won't deal much damage in PvP matches and Space maps in general. For a unit whose main highlight is to immediately burst down opponents with its EX skill, having reduced damage significantly lowers its value.

Overall, the Gundam EX is a lot like the Gaplant, which is also a Green Raid unit that instantly uses its EX to burst down a target. However, while they're definitely very similar, the Gaplant does not suffer from the Gundam EX's terrain disadvantage and benefits from being able to target whichever unit has the least amount of HP, making it the obvious better unit among the two. That said, this unit isn't very good since it's significantly worse than the Gaplant, which isn't a very strong unit in today's meta anyway.

Needs Transcending To Be Effective

The Gundam EX needs Transcending to increase its evasion, beam damage, and projectile damage by good amounts, which it definitely needs. However, its highlight feature of instantly using its EX skill when the battle begins is locked behind Transcendent Lv. 5. That said, this unit will need a lot of investment to reach its full potential. However, given this unit's glaring limitations and how hard it is to earn Rainbow Haro Coins, Diamonds for pulling, and other resources, you're probably better off skipping this unit. If you really want to use this unit, know that it'll be very costly to make it perform the way it is intended to.

Iria Solari grants the Gundam EX 115% more ranged sense for the first 20 seconds of combat, 20% evasion, 38% more melee and ranged sense, and a stacking reaction buff on evade of up to 65%. More damage is always welcome and with Iria, this mobile suit can reach up to 95% evasion, not counting the evasion it gets from the reaction she grants.
