Tips on Pairing Pilots and Mobile Suits |
---|
|
Mobile suits often have a signature pilot to go with, and inversely, pilots have their signature mobile suits. In most cases, pairing the two would often synergize perfectly, with each of them taking full advantage of each other's conditional bonuses.
The game doesn't outright tell you which signature pilot an MS has or which signature mobile suit (MS) a pilot owns. Instead, check out our mobile suit and pilot pages for the units you want to field. Our guides not only lists down each unit's signature pairing but also some of their best alternatives if you don't have the signature pilot/MS you need.
All Pilot and Mobile Suits Tier Lists
If you don't have the signature pilot/mobile suits or the alternatives we listed on our pages, you'll have to take matters into your own hands. Every pilot has certain skills that will only apply their bonuses if the MS they're in fits the condition listed. For example, [C0004] Char Aznable's Skill 1 increases ranged sense by 95% whenever an EX skill is activated, but only if the MS he's in is the Red type. Putting Char in any other suit type would mean that the bonuses wouldn't be applied.
Additionally, you'll want bonuses that actually matter to the suit you're on. For example, evasion on a Bombardment-type unit wouldn't mean much since you'd typically want your bombardment units to play from a distance and avoid damage entirely. Another example is how ranged sense wouldn't do much for melee units. Refer to the table below for the bonuses certain MS types typically want from their pilots.
Suit Type | Desirable Bonuses |
---|---|
Armored | DEF, HP |
Raid | Evasion, Ranged Sense, Melee Sense, EX Gauge Recovery |
Generic | Accuracy, Ranged Sense, Melee Sense |
Bombardment | Accuracy, Ranged Sense |
Support | EX Gauge Recovery |
Sniper | Accuracy, Ranged Sense |
Close Combat | Melee Sense |
Just because a pilot isn't classified as UR, doesn't mean (s)he's bad. While SR pilots are often outclassed by the UR pilots, they could still perform quite well, especially when they're synergistic with the suit you put them in. In fact, some SR pilots have better, more powerful skills than some UR pilots. If none of your UR pilots offer synergies with the suit you want to use, consider looking through the SR pilots you own and see if their skills are good for your MS.
An example of a good SR pilot would be [C0003] Amuro Ray. His first skill increases Ranged Sense by 59% when above 80% health. This makes him a viable non-UR alternative if you need a pilot for a ranged unit.
If you're unsure about the pairings you made, you could always try them out in mock battles. Mock battles are a great way to see how your combination of pilots, mobile suits, and modules play out, without having to spend a single AP.
Gundam UC Engage is all about setting up the strongest team you can make based on what opponents you'll be facing. If you don't pair the right pilots and mobile suits together, you're bound to miss out on important synergies and bonuses that undoubtedly make your team much more powerful.
Sure, you could just use the Auto-Formation function, but it's not exactly the most reliable in terms of building the best team. Using this function is a terrible idea as it's bound to create teams with mismatching mobile suits and pilots. If you look at the image above, that's a perfect example of the Auto-Formation function not creating an optimal team. Both Roux Louka and Io Fleming are on the team, but they're not in their signature suits. Their bonuses would be put to waste on suits they don't have synergies with.
