Theta Plus Analysis

Fast Melee Attacker With Sticking Power

The Theta Plus is a free MS that players can acquire through Fragment Quests and through The Moon Over Moon Moon Event. This mobile suit has 2 melee weapons and 1 ranged weapon, which synergizes with its built-in movement speed buffs that help close in on its targets and deal damage.

All of its weapons deal beam damage, and it receives buffs to that type of damage as well. The problem with the Theta Plus is how all three of its weapons only strike for one hit once and these hit quite slow, so you'll often be in range but you may find its attack speed to be rather slow.

The EX Skill is a straightforward attack that deals 686% ATK damage to one enemy unit. It surely packs a punch, but it only hits 1 unit and it sadly doesn't offer the same value other top Generic suits have, like the Hamma-Hamma's EX Skill's stun and increased damage against stunned targets. While this MS does not receive any boosts to its EX Gauge recovery, it can still fire its EX Skill at a decent rate. This is because the Theta Plus has 2 melee weapons, and melee weapons usually charge the EX Gauge faster than ranged weapons.

Finally, this MS relies on guarding for defense instead of DEF buffs and evasion. It enjoys a guard rate of 20% when transcended, and will restore 625 HP on hit. It'll mitigate some damage, but only 20% is far from enough to consistently protect it from big damage, and a 625 HP heal isn't all that big either, especially for how seldom it happens in a match.

Despite its flaws, the Theta Plus is a great unit to have, primarily because it's one of the units you can earn fragments for. Because of this, you can unleash its potential all the way without having to spend any diamonds on gacha pulls. Once you reach its maximum potential, extra fragments can be earned as Rainbow Haro coins instead, which is the rare currency you need to transcend your units.

Stronger When Transcended

The Theta Plus is one of the many units whose buffs that make them special are locked behind Transcendent Levels. When fully transcended, the unit receives a 50% movement speed buff, 70% more beam damage with its Dual Wield Beam Saber, and a 20% guard rate. Without these, the Theta Plus is left with only damage and a tiny 8% boost to its movement speed. The small heal on guarding will be there, but you won't have the guard rate to even trigger it.

Saphira Gardner is Theta Plus' signature pilot, who grants it a 156% melee sense increase, which this unit would undoubtedly be able to capitalize on as a melee damage-centered generic unit.

This buff only activates for 10 seconds after using the EX Skill, and while the Theta Plus doesn't have any EX Gauge recovery skills, it can still charge it fairly quickly with its melee weapons.
