More Effective Against Debuffed Opponents

The Zaku IV (Illia Pazom) is a Close Combat mobile suit best known for its effectiveness against mobile suits affected by crowd control debuffs.

It's equipped with an EX Skill that deals 563% ATK while also buffing its proximity damage by 50%. This EX Skill can be cast early into the game when fully Transcended, thanks to its 50% EX gauge restoration skill that it uses when battle begins.

What makes this unit very situational is how it suffers from an accuracy debuff of 50%, but gains 120% when attacking Jammed and Stunned targets. When opponents are attacked with the Unavoidable debuff, it deals 99% more damage. That said, it's best to pair this unit alongside mobile suits that can inflict debuffs. Some of the best allies for the Zaku IV (Illia Pazom) include the Dag Doll, Purple Sazabi, Qubeley, Hyaku Shiki, and The-O, as all these units are excellent at inflicting the debuffs that bring out the best in the Zaku IV.

Its other skills include a 48% max HP buff, a 120% proximity damage buff, and a 200,000 damage cap increase.

Stronger When Transcended and Potential Unleashed

When fully Transcended, this mobile suit benefits from 50% evasion for the first 30 seconds of combat, 36% proximity damage, and the 50% EX gauge restoration buff we've already discussed above. Transcending this unit not only allows the Zaku IV to benefit from its EX Skill buff early on, but it also grants a good boost in survivability in its only evasion buff.

Performing Potential Unleashed on this mobile suit is also quite important as this increases both the ATK% multiplier, as well as the proximity damage buff potency.

Overall, the Zaku IV (Illia Pazom) is a situationally good mobile suit for both PvE and PvP. It's quite good when paired alongside the recommended units mentioned above. However, with how great the current top units of the meta are, you're much better off running meta team comps with Gyan, Zeong, and Ez8 rather than debuffers like the Qubeley and such.
