Char's Rick Dom Analysis

"Tanky" Bombardment Unit

Char's Rick Dom is a Bombardment mobile suit with a very unusual kit. It's equipped with an EX Skill that deals 537% ATK damage, while also healing itself for 45% of its max HP. This is improved with its Transcendent Skills, since having it fully Transcended allows it to start matches with its EX gauge halfway filled, while also improving its max HP by 25%. Using its EX Skill earlier lowers the chances of it dying before it gets to heal, while the bonus HP makes it tankier while also increasing the amount of HP it heals with its EX Skill.

The problem with Char's Rick Dom is that it's a Bombardment unit. As such, it has a low base HP, which limits both the heal from its EX, and the max HP bonus from Transcendent Skills. It also does not have any evasion, DEF, damage resistance, or guard rate. These HP buffs are still somewhat useful in the sense that Char's Rick Dom is likely to survive AoE blasts, but it's definitely not going to last long when directly being targeted by any decent DPS unit.

Stuns Enemy Bombardment Mobile Suits For 4.4 Seconds

What makes this Rick Dom useful isn't its heal or the max HP buff, but rather, its Skill 1 that stuns enemy Bombardment mobile suits for 4.4 seconds, 4 seconds into the battle. This is extremely useful in today's meta since most Ez8 teams run 2, 3, or even 4 Bombardment mobile suits at a time. Rendering them useless for 4.4 seconds is huge, as these units are often the biggest damage threats on the enemy team. With this window of opportunity, your team could do serious damage to the enemy team while their strongest carries can't fight back.

However, if the enemy team isn't using a Zeong, HMT, or other Ez8-enhanced Bombardment units, then you're definitely better off running a different meta unit on your team instead of Char's Rick Dom.

Its other skills include two 48% beam damage buffs that stay active when at or above its 100% and 80% HP thresholds.

Tankier When Transcended

When fully Transcended, Char's Rick Dom is 25% more accurate, and benefits from the two other Transcendent Skills we've already discussed, which are the 50% EX gauge restoration buff and the 25% max accuracy buff. These buffs won't make or break this unit's kit, since its main use is to stun enemy Bombardment units. However, you'll still want to Transcend this unit as having more HP and healing earlier allows it to withstand AoE attacks and recover from them.

The same can be said about Potential Unleashed since it improves both the damage its EX Skill deals, as well as its healing potency.

Char further increases this mobile suit's survivability by granting it 10% max HP and 26% EX damage resistance. With Char aboard, this duo can withstand even the strongest of AoE attacks. He also grants it 76% ranged sense, which grants a small boost in power.

Do note, however, that if your goal is to increase this mobile suit's damage output, there are better pilots for that.
