Varguil (Gundam Head) Analysis

Anti-Yellow Type MS

The Varguil (Gundam Head) is designed as a killer of Yellow-type mobile suits mainly because of its EX Skill, which deals 626% ATK to one targeted enemy unit. However, if that target is a Yellow-type mobile suit, it'll deal an additional 377% of its ATK, on top of stunning them for 7 seconds. This is the Varguil's bread and butter skill, so you'll want to position it to flank and attack an unprotected Yellow-type to ensure that the EX doesn't get wasted on a non-Yellow mobile suit. This EX skill can also be activated early into the match at Transcendent Lv. 5, given that it restores half of its EX gauge when the battle begins. This can also be fired off more often than other EX skills given that its Skill 1 allows it to benefit from 64% more EX gauge recovery for the first 30 seconds of battle.

Its other Transcendent Skills involve a 50% evasion buff for the first half-minute of the battle, a 36% beam damage buff, and a 4-second stun to go along with its EX, regardless of typing. Of course, there's also that EX gauge restoration buff that we've already talked about above. These Transcendent Skills make this MS more versatile, as it allows non-Yellow types to get stunned, grants its only defensive skill, and improves damage output.

Its regular skills include the 64% EX gauge recovery buff that we discussed already, as well as a 54% damage buff that covers the first 30 seconds of battle.

Weak Against the Zeong

As for its weaknesses, it's quite squishy despite the 50% evasion Transcendent skill, and it suffers from being a Protagonist Unit, which takes increased damage from the Zeong, one of the most popular and powerful mobile suits in the meta. It's also a Raid unit with 2 subpar ranged weapons and only 1 melee weapon, which means it'll have bad weapon rotations wherein it'll shoot, close the gap, attack in melee range, and then back away to use its ranged weapons again.

Overall, the Varguil (Gundam Head) is a niche unit that's great at taking out Yellow-Type mobile suits. It's lackluster against units of other types, but it's great at what it does best. Use this MS on PvE content against Yellow-Type MSs and PvP matches against teams with strong Yellow-Types.

Stronger With Investments

We've already discussed why its Transcendent Skills are so good, so if those appeal to you and/or you intend on using this MS in hopes of easily taking out Yellow-Types, Transcend this MS to level 5.

Because this MS relies on its EX skill to burst and immobilize Yellow-types, performing Potential Unleashed on this MS should be one of your priorities as this will improve the damage, bonus damage, and stun duration.
