Evasive DPS Unit for PvE With Instant EX Skill

The Messala is known for its EX Skill, which hits one targeted enemy for 502% of its ATK and buffs its accuracy, evasion, and beam damage by 36% for 20 seconds. What makes this unit good is how it starts battles with 99% of its EX gauge already filled, allowing it to burst a targeted opponent while also benefiting from its buffs right from the get-go.

Because of how this unit's EX Skill works, it's way better in PvE since PvE battles are often against teams with all their units exposed. Here, you can place the Messala in front of any Green unit and take it out quickly, unless it's an Armored unit since Raid units have a disadvantage against Armored units.

It's not nearly as good in PvP for pretty much the same reason. Any half-decent Arena team will likely have most of their units protected behind Armored units, and because of how this unit's EX Skill works, it probably won't have the chance to hit any key units. Armored units will just eat its EX Skill, and it doesn't help that you need to get this unit to Potential Lv. 5 to get the most out of its EX Skill.

Other than its EX Skill and how it fires it off right when the battle begins, this unit's kit relies on Evasion for defense. It gets 50% evasion for the first 30 seconds of combat, as well as having 7 stacks of Absolute Evade, up to 70% more beam damage on evasion, and restoring 5% of its EX gauge each time it evades. However, it can't take many hits or EX Skills, since evasion is its only defensive feature, and even suffers from 99% decreased DEF.

Needs Transcending and Potential Unleashed

Because the Messala's EX Skill is its key ability, you'll want it at Potential Lv. 5 to get the most out of this unit, which is very hard to do and not only requires a ton of Diamonds, but a lot of luck as well. Without Potential Lv. 5, both the damage and the buffs from the EX Skill won't be very effective.

Just like with most other units, Transcending will also unlock this unit's potential since its Transcendent skills offer 50% evasion, as well as 36% more EX damage and beam damage.

At Transcendent Lv. 0 and Potential Lv. 0, this unit will have no evasion at all other than the 7 stacks of Absolute Evade, which means it won't be able to maximize the buffs it receives on evading.

Sarah is the Messala's signature pilot, who grants it 20% evasion, up to a massive 384% increase in melee sense, and up to 65% more reaction as well. With Sarah as its pilot, the Messala will have more than 100% evasion for the first 20 seconds of combat, on top of having 7 stacks of Absolute Evasion when the battle begins.

The catch is that the Messala only has 1 melee weapon as a Raid unit, so it won't be able to make use of this massive melee sense as often as Close Combat units or Raid units with 2 melee weapons. Despite that, it'll still hit very hard when it does.
